About this deal

Vor, the Shadow King of Mythanar and leader of the Troldefolk, ventures to the surface realm, seeking a human marriage that will ensure an alliance that would benefit both kingdoms.

As someone who picked this up for the Fae aspect I wasn’t disappointed but be warned it’s not a full fledge Fae story. He sees the quiet strength in Faraine that others overlook and their slow burn relationship is achingly romantic and gave me butterflies. La portada no atrae nada, pero has leído libros peores con portadas bonitas y lo contrario, portadas horribles y el libro acaba siendo de lo mejorcito, además, Elena, ¿qué pierdes, las neuronas? I personally haven’t found any triggers for myself and read many many different types of books so take that as you will.

With fantastic chemistry between the two protagonists, high stakes and plenty of mystery and intrigue, this was a thoroughly enjoyable fantasy romance. I had to admit my first attraction was the gorgeous cover, so beautifully created, kudos to the artist. I adored the slow burn romance, I love it when authors put the time and effort in to create wonderful characters and care enough not to rush it, but to want them to develop over time and we grow our connection to them as readers, as their blossoming relationship does. Sure, but it's amazing, original, and has such beautiful angst, love and magic I could NOT put it down!

I do wish all authors would include an index and pronunciation guide, it would be so helpful for names and new languages! Also, towards the beginning of the story, I believe Vor made some strange comment on how he wondered if he'd find Faraine beautiful once he got to know her. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. I’m a huge fan of slow-burn fantasy romances so jumped at the chance to read this (especially after seeing Daphne Press’ stunning new cover.

However, at the halfway mark, something big happens and the book becomes full of deception between the two main characters. As I was reading the first half of the book, I was drawn into the conflict and was SURE that this was going to be a 5 star read for me. The riveting story will stop you from ever wanting to lay this book down, but oooooh, Ms Mercedes, what a cruel ending! I'm so tired of seeing men treat women terribly, feel lusty which chases their bad mood away, and cuddle up to the woman and then move on like nothing happened. I think the reason I'm most upset over this book is because Faraine is just as much a victim as Vor, but she's being made out to be such a bad person when she really doesn't have much fault.

After a short career in traditional publishing (under a different name), Sylvia decided to take the plunge into the indie publishing world and is enjoying every minute of it. Sylvia Mercedes' writing engages the imagination so vividly, it's like a movie playing out in my mind. The first book in a new fantasy romance series, this sweeping tale of love and betrayal is perfect for listeners looking for a touch of spice to go with the sweet in their next swoony, slow-burn romance. However, the unique magic system and lore surrounding the Troldefolk was incredibly gripping and really helped to bring Mythanar (and its unique underground setting) to life. I'm Sylvia: cat-lover, tea-drinker, book-addict, and avid fan of the Kickbutt Heroine Fantasy Genre! With an enemies-to-lovers romance between a witch and a witch hunter, this YA fantasy series is highly addictive.
