The fluids secreted from these glands, together with the ‘smelly’ bacteria, cause that perspiration smell. If you are looking to save money on deodorant, decrease your use of unnatural products on your body as well as reduce your plastic waste, then I would recommend converting to Nuud Deodrant. Your body could have started to secrete a bit more oils than usual, causing lumps and due to dozens of possible reasons, or maybe even none at all.

I loved the smell of the Native deodorant but at the end of a sweaty, hot day you’d have the smell of body odour mixed with the scent which doesn’t take long to turn you off it. Most other natural deodorants have a baking soda base because its alkaline properties inhibit bacteria growth. I just hope nuud are able to keep their excellent formula but with maybe an added fresh subtle scent option in the future to make it a perfect all rounder deodorant for me! I found out that for myself it lasts longer if I apply it right after the shower and after giving my armpits a good scrub.

Thirdly, and lastly, and also the least satisfying reason for lumps to appear under your pits is that it happens randomly. nuud is not a deodorant, but a preodorant – a regular deodorant disguises the odour of perspiration, whereas nuud preventsthis smell altogether. I now continue to wear them as they protect my clothes from the initial layer of sweat as I’m very active and cycle most places. One application can last for days, Micro silver structurally reduces the bacteria population, which means the smell of perspiration cannot occur. As someone who has had ice queens for armpits for the last few years, this was something I’d almost forgotten might happen.

In an antiperspirant the active component (aluminium) closes off the pores, and in combination with fragrances, the smell is masked, instead of prevented. The product sits on top of your underarm skin rather than being absorbed by the body – a bit like a shield!
