About this deal

The cards are larger than the base game and nicely designed to show the color and shape as well as having a hero on it. We promise we will only send relevant content , and only when we have something worth sharing with you! My First Castle Panic is a cooperative tower (castle) defense game for 1-4 players ages 4+ that plays in just 20 minutes. Parcels will usually be despatched on the next working day - Tuesday to Friday - after payment has been accepted and availability confirmed. You never want a game to feel unfair when you’re playing with younger kids, and at times, that’s what you get with this game.

You’re excited to play tabletop games with your kids, but most are way too complicated for little ones. My First Castle Panic, like its predecessor Castle Panic, is a co-operative game in which players work together to defend their castle, but this game removes the reading requirement of the earlier one and fosters the development of educational skills, such as identifying colors and shapes, problem solving, and turn taking. Rain City Games acknowledges that our work takes place on the unceded homelands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil Waututh), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Qayqayt Coast Salish peoples. When thinking about what games to first play with my son, I was drawn to My First Castle Panic for a number of reasons, firstly it was a co-operative game meaning we would share in victory or defeat together and secondly although there is some luck in terms of the cards and monsters drawn, I wanted a game that would help him to learn basic strategy.

This is hardly a deal breaker, but for a game with a target demographic of children ages 4-7, I would have thought the cardboard would be a little tougher. While the game will never hit my gaming table on game night, it’s still entertaining for me to play with my kids. And even if it may not be designed quite how I would like, it’s still a great entry point game for my daughter.

I urge you to get this game for your children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, or any child that you spend time with. My son says it’s his favorite game, but he also says just about everything he is currently talking about is his favorite, so take that with a grain of salt. If a monster would run into the wall in front of the castle destroys the wall but is sent to the dungeon. We’ve even gotten out our old Hero Quest goblin and troll figurines to spice up the display and get into the fantasy theme even more. It certainly doesn’t hurt that the very first time we played she drew a card that let her rebuild our destroyed wall.
