If you need a shoe for rugged approaches and lots of standing in aiders, these shoes aren't the right choice. The former is designed to be stiff for long days standing in aiders on aid climbs and big walls, and the latter is stiff for long-distance hiking performance through rugged terrain. The low-profile lacing system is simple and secure, never loosening up, and gives a fit and sensitivity I like for hiking and scrambling in rugged terrain.But if you want to move light and fast and need a shoe that can accompany you up big routes without weighing you down, the TX2 Evo is a perfect choice. They’re also a great option for people with wide or narrow feet that find the one-size-fits-all nature of many canyoning shoes just doesn’t work for them. Overall, the TX3 offers much more comfort for hiking, and its mesh upper makes it a better choice for hot summer endeavors.

The soles are more flexible than many other canyoning shoes, which assists with your ability to smear the maximum amount of rubber on the rock when scrambling. They are nice and light for short walk offs but I can’t hike very long at all in them without getting foot discomfort. While it is beaten out by the mega-lightweight TX2 but about two ounces, this shoe is more supportive. For those with narrower feet, the laces shift to the top of the foot, so this wear will not be as much of an issue.I haven’t been able to find the heel to toe offset for the TX Guide, but my crude measurements place it with a 10-12mm drop.
