About this deal

By the end of the book, the protagonist has adopted a new identity, embracing a life that despises the vanity, the deceit, and the superficiality of her past.

With its unconventional narrative style and thought-provoking themes, this book challenges societal norms and explores the true meaning of beauty.I’ve never known Chuck Palahniuk to stick with a shtick, but to rather experiment and explore, and that’s what I got from Invisible Monsters. I love how truly fucked up and twisted this story is, no one does fucked up and twisted quite like Chuck does! Chuck Palahniuk is the best-selling author of more than eighteen fictional works, including Fight Club, Invisible Monsters, Survivor, Choke, Lullaby, Diary, Haunted, Rant, Pygmy, Tell-All, Damned, Doomed, Beautiful You and The Invention of Sound.

Another element that I thought was less evident—since Chuck Palahniuk had to settle with a revised edition of this book—is how the story does not possess a classic sequential structure. This is one of the few books I’ve read that contain more than one major plot twist that didn’t come out as lame or forced—at every reveal, I find myself wanting to release a thread of curses. He is also the author of the non-fiction profile of Portland Fugitives and Refugees and the non-fiction collection Stranger Than Fiction. Sister Katherine peers down her nose and through the glasses to read: Guys seeking slim, adventurous girls for fun and romance. Highly recommended if you’re wanting to give Palahniuk’s work a go or if you’re into ‘so wrong it’s right’ kind of books.Published as a paperback original in 1999, Palahniuk's tale of a fashion model who loses everything when she is badly disfigured in a drive-by shooting gets a makeover here, featuring new chapters, new scenes, and special design elements.

Enter Brandy Alexander, Queen Supreme, who will teach her that reinventing yourself sometimes means erasing your past and making up something better. Meaningful Echo: At the end of the book, Shannon helps her brother out by giving him the last remnants of her identity (her identification) so he can figure out what he wants from life, just like how he helped her in the speech therapy room near the beginning. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Our boy Chuck knows his shit, and our girl, who remains unnamed until the final few pages, knows she’s shit. Jeffree Star's song title "Your Heart is My Piñata" is a direct reference to the Katty Kathy quote of the Rhea sister's invention, with Jeffree's debut album Beauty Killer containing several references to the novel.

It's so beautiful and powerful and beyond feeling anything for anybody, that's what I love about fire. There are plenty of reasons why this new structure works so well in this choose your own adventure type chapter hopping format, but I appreciate it even more for what it says about life. Along the way flashbacks are interwoven with "the present" and other points in the time line of character's lives. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this book as starting point for new Palahniuk readers, although it is a great example of his style and characterisation.
