About this deal
The book explores their origins, their loves and hates, they're issues, victories, writing lyrics, creating videos, collaborating (with the ppl that actually took part in creating the band), photo shoots, romances, affairs, hauntings etc, arguing and discussing every thing while showing pictures of them every step of the way. It has the back stories of all the members and how they came together, and glimpses of the possible future of the band. Rise of the Ogre is an autobiography about the virtual band Gorillaz, ostensibly written by the four band-members in collaboration with (actual) Gorillaz musician and official scribe Cass Browne. It is, absurdly, the fictional autobiography of a virtual band, with fabulous graphic artwork and comical interviews.
I bought a used version a whole 7 years after it was published for a total of 28 pounds which is a bargain considered this book sells for more than 70 in some instances. The dust wrapper is in very good condition, bright, with two teeny closed tears and slight creasing to the top to the front. It covers the band from 2000 and their first EP, Tomorrow Comes Today through their 2006 tour ending at the Apollo Theater. Initially iTunes exclusive, one part was released every week for four weeks beginning December 5th 2006. It's really a piece unlike any other and it is such a shame there's no sequel (even if the Gorillaz Almanac seems to be in a somewhat similar vein).
It'll be packed full of great shots from the sets of our videos, gigs, rehearsals, interviews…you name it. The book blends fact and fiction throughout, interspersing commentary from the band members with actual quotes from their creators, collaborators and critics.

Pages can include limited notes and highlighting, and the copy can include From the library of labels or previous owner inscriptions. At the front of the book, there is a ‘Demon Disclaimer’ stating the information is not all true, ‘especially the stuff Murdoc says’. The front cover of the book, when flipped sideways, is a silhouette of Murdoc Niccals' pet raven 'Cortez'. If it won't get re-published (which I hope it will) with the addition of Plastic Beach story this may turn into quite the collectors artifact!
