About this deal

I’ve actually kept using this CeraVe cleanser long after the breakout disappeared because it’s a great everyday cleanser for oily and acne-prone skin. You don’t need much to get the job done, I do about half a pump for my whole face and neck - leave it on for 30 seconds to soak up the BHA and then rinse away. Everything just feels smoother and clearer, and my makeup actually sits on my face without patching and flaking off.

Upon trying the new blemish control cleanser, the texture and scent was similar to the other range and very natural, the product foams up well, and you only need a tad for the full face and neck.

I was interested to see how they formulated their new blemish products to both support the skin’s barrier and reduce the appearance of breakouts. Other extra ingredients besides the 2% Salicylic Acid include Niacinamide and a new entrant, Hectorite Clay; which is supposedly great for absorbing oil and minimizing pores. For example, I used the Blemish Control Cleanser at night, the Blemish Control every other day (for maintenance), and the Resurfacing Retinol Serum a couple of times a week to ensure my skin didn't get irritated or freaked out.

Salicylic acid is a type of BHA, an exfoliating acid that sloughs off dead skin cells to help visibly reduce blemishes and the appearance of pores and blackheads from the skin's surface while helping to prevent future breakouts. They both have the base Cerave formula of Glycerin, Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, Cholesterol and the three essential Ceramides. You may also find that your skin actually produces more oil when you dry out your skin too much, which can result in even more breakouts. I found this really effective when I got my monthly breakout, what is normally a week of pimples, barely even broke out.CeraVe's 3 Essential Ceramides: a unique combination of CeraVe ceramides 1, 3 and 6-II to replenish existing ceramides. I've been trialling these three products over the course of a month, and as someone who loves CeraVe's OG Hydrating Cleanser and Renewing Retinol, I was excited to see if the range would help clear my persistent breakouts, without irritating my skin.

CeraVe formulates their products with ceramides, which are natural lipids (oils) found within the skin. The daily cleanser is enriched with three essential ceramides, niacinamide and 2% salicylic acid to help buff away dead skin cells and reduce the appearance of imperfections. I love how this range makes quality ingredients and products way more accessible — and for me, it actually works. So, I stripped it all back and tried sticking to some basic gentle cleanser/moisturiser combo for a while. Hyaluronic Acid: Helps to retain moisture in the skin, leaving the skin feeling hydrated and plump with the added benefit of reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. As I mentioned in my previous posts, it’s been a while since a product launch has excited me like this.

When I started using this I didn't think it was doing much and I seemed to get some new breakouts, however after a month my skin looks fab! The remaining ones have significantly reduced size, and my forehead’s texture is generally smoother. I also recently bought the CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion PM 52ml when I *accidentally* impaired my barrier, which resulted in rough and red skin.
