About this deal

Yesterday a parent came over to tell me how impressed she was by the book fair and that you did a fabulous job of selling the books to the children first.

Alex O'Connell, The Times The latest thrilling instalment of the Adventures on Trains series finds Hal and Uncle Nat on the night train to the Arctic Circle - with a sinister figure pursuing the stunning locomotive. Harrison and his Uncle Nat go on a train holiday together, in this case to see the Northern Lights, and they end up embroiled in a mystery involving the train passengers that’s to be solved. She has a first-class honours degree in English literature and an MA in Shakespeare Studies from Kings College London. Journeying into the never ending night of the arctic winter, our railway detectives must outsmart an assassin in their most chilling adventure yet, in which nothing is as it seems. Uncle Nat is taking Hal on the train from Sweden to the Aurora Sky Station, Abisko, Finland to see the Northern Lights. Whilst reading, the book was so quick paced and raring to go, I felt I had to read quick to keep up.

Hal's talent for observation and art again helps them to solve the mystery of where and what the item is that the assassins are after. Join Hal and Uncle Nat on more stops in this thrilling series with: Murder on the Safari Star, Danger at Dead Man’s Pass and Sabotage on the Solar Express. It is an easy, engaging read, but for me fell slightly flat by not really giving the reader a chance to solve the mystery first from clues in the story. In this book the action level is set to high with a killer code and assassins on the loose, desperate to find it. Therefore, Hal is quick to want to draw out his sketchbook and assist his uncle in his dilemma as the full problem is revealed. The sixth and I think final installment of the Adventures on Trains series sees Hal and his uncle Nat on a train to the Arctic circle, the problem being there is also an assassin aboard!

I have even talked the head into a little revamp of the library so that we can display them properly! While they are unpacking Nat looks at Hal's drawings - and his face drops - a man in the orchestra drawing looks familiar but it can't be, can it - he's supposed to be dead. The wintry, Christmas-time atmosphere, the constant threat of avalanche, and amazing locations like Kungsträdgården Station and the Ice Hotel make this much more than a suspenseful, fast-paced adventure. She now lives and works in UK as a freelance Illustrator and Creative Designer, accompanied by her beloved pets.

Hal isn't just a train buff, he also has a nose for crime and it seems no matter where in the world they are Hal and Uncle Nat are the Duo to bring crims to justice! But Hal is worried about the Yorkshire Gold Tea in his rucksack as requested by Uncle Nat, he only requests it when he's worried about something!

Despite the illustrations being printed in black and white, you can easily imagine the colours painted in.
