About this deal

A sombre looking Divisional Commander, Keith Humphreys, told us a briefing would be held later that afternoon at the Llandegai police station where an incident room was being set up. A few minutes earlier he had described Llanfairpwll as a "perfect" location for vampires, since many of its residents were elderly. It is gripping right from THAT prologue, I enjoyed the references to the historical murders committed by Peter Moore and the police trying to ascertain the link between now and then…copycat or something more sinister. The first 3 books are almost a warm up act for the final 2 which are written from a different perspective - that of an author (Conrad Jones! The death toll starts with the bodies recovered from the sea during a storm, clearly no accident due to their injuries as well as the fact that they are tied together…when more bodies turn up, it’s clear that DI Alan Williams, DS Kim Davies and their team have their hands full…not to mention the warning to stay away from certain individuals so as not to ruin the work of the National Crime Agency in their major drugs investigation!

North Wales Police confirmed Milburn will appear before magistrates in Caernarfon on Thursday, charged with murder. The characters were relatable and DI Alan Williams has his issues to deal with but they didn’t dominate the story or impact his ability to do his job, when they were mentioned it was because they were relevant to the understanding of him and to the story. The father-of-two was shot at close range while attempting to fix his ground-level dish outside his pebble-dash cottage overlooking the Irish Sea, a few miles from Holyhead on Anglesey in north-west Wales. The Moral ambivalence of a policeman allowing his sons to lie around smoking marijuana is a mystery to me.

The murder inquiry was formally announced the following day but the macabre details were not revealed for several weeks. In evidence not heard by the jury, the court was told a handmade garrotte was discovered in Whall’s car after his arrest, and his internet history showed he had bought piano wire online and googled “central nervous system neck injury”. The trainers he was wearing were seized by police when they visited his home that Saturday in January and they were sent for forensic analysis.

This, however, is only the beginning and the body count is set to rise and the case spreads considerably before DI Alan Williams and his team can work out what's going on. I wanted to understand - but understanding was undercut by a sense of the author playing with my emotions. Detectives appealed for anyone travelling by vehicle who may have dashcam footage of the north west of Anglesey between the early hours of April 22 and the early afternoon to make contact. Hysteria is the second instalment in Ross' brand new Dr Alex Gregory series, narrated by actor Hugh Dancy.Moving on from that, to focus on the story itself, we see some potential but just never quite reaching that five star rating. Mathew Hardman, then 17, attacked Mabel Leyshon from behind as she sat in an armchair watching television in the lounge of her home near Llanfairpwll late on Saturday, November 24, 2001. View image in fullscreen Gerald Corrigan was shot as he adjusted the satellite dish outside his Anglesey home. Set on Anglesey it follows DI Alan Williams and his partner DS Kim Davies as body after body washes up on the shores.
