About this deal

The way Garber grabs you and then takes you on this journey, I feel like a fly on the wall, and that’s how good every part of this book is.

TL;DR: they should rebrand this book and target it to toddlers who don't have object permanence yet. she believed that people could change; she believed that everyone's life was like a story with an ending that was not yet written, and therefore everyone's future held infinite possibilities. I was reading out in public and I literally had to resist gawking at the book and looking like an idiot because a twist was just revealed. He quickly catches on to the effect of the truth stone, but before he can snatch the stone from her, she asks him the one question that keeps pestering her: why does he want to open the arch?If she tells him she loves him, he might be willing to try instead of going back to Donatella, and perhaps Honora will be able to reverse not only Apollo’s curse but Jacks’s, too.

Jacks finds her there, overcome with grief and guilt, and tells her to pack her bags while he deals with the body so they can run for her safety. I’m not a jealous person was what Evangeline intended to say, but instead the words “Of course” came out. not only do you have no chemistry with him, thinking "hihi if i just tell him i love him everything will be fine" is dripping with naivety.

But here I have to make a disclaimer that though I am forever team Jacks I couldn't help but notice the amount of sexy men in this book! After she faints, Evangeline dreams of the Ballad of the Archer and the Fox, an old story of an Archer cursed to hunt the girl he loves but wakes before the end. She finds and disturbs the two in a hidden corridor, with an entrance concealed by a portrait of Glendora Slaughterwood. She doesn’t know who he is, but he soothes her, holds her close, and assures her all is well, she is safe, he is here, and he will never let her go. Evangeline though was very nice and I found I wasn't annoyed by her inner voice as this book is from her POV and more often than not female characters get on my nerves.

As she visits Apollo and thinks about it, Jacks reappears and repeats his offer, but suddenly, Apollo grabs Evangeline’s arm and does not let go. Under cover of darkness, she goes back, only to find Luc has followed her to House Slaughterwood and into the tomb, having read in the scandal sheets that Knightlinger had spotted Evangeline at LaLa’s party. Anyways, this plot was amazing, incredible, splendid, magical, and a bunch of other words alike to those.Jacks swears this wasn’t him but confesses Evangeline is not the first key to live and that the Protectorate, who are charged with keeping the arch closed, hunts down pink-haired girls to prevent them from acting as key. The secondary characters are also well-penned and enhance the overall story, contributing to the plot in meaningful ways. i love eva with my whole heart and i really hope that we will see more of her badass side in the future. Jacks didn’t do this, he claims, and they both rush from the room, only to find that Apollo’s successor, Lucien, has arrived early and has held his crowning ceremony without Evangeline.

ALL THE YEARNING BTWN JACKS AND EVANGELINE SDKHGKS IT WAS TORTURE READING i love them🥹 and just the so many reveals its amazing especially that last one at the end ? Everything was fuzzy and distant, but she knew, somehow, that these arms held her closer than the hot arms ever had. With the story curse itself watching, Jacks screams in the sort of pain witnessed only once a century. The plot seemed to be going in circles and the quest for the stones could have been executed more aptly. his actions near the end show us how deeply he cares for evangeline, but he refuses to be that transparent with her.As they arrive at Chaos’s castle, Jacks tells her Apollo was brought here after the whipping but that she must not go to him because he will still try to kill her. The story curse was familiar with pain, but this was agony, the sort of raw grief that was only seen once in a century.
