If I were looking for a parallel point on the bike then I would look at the swing arm pivot bolt, not the front axle.I dont know about the mentionned straight edge method previously mentionned, but i found an easy one with a 3' edge. They are for the most part. There's some minor deviation but not much. Basically, make sure your chain is clean and in usable condition first. Lift the laser head to point at the furthest visible point of the chain/belt towards the engine. Adjust the wheel alignment until the laser is showing at the centre point of the chain/belt.
