Description

Sky took its sweet time to green-light a third season of Gangs of London, and while we don't yet have a release date, we do know that production has started with a new creative team. Elliot (Sope Dirisu) is clearly going to get into plenty more trouble working for The Investors. (Image credit: Sky Atlantic ) This awards them what Shannon wanted, power, status and most importantly freedom from underneath anyone's boot heels, especially the Wallaces. Sky has also revealed that the second season will debut in the UK on Sky Atlantic and NOW on October 20.

Gangs of London season 2: everything you need to know | What Gangs of London season 2: everything you need to know | What

The first season transported us to a version of London that was ruled by a group of international gangs. When the head of one of the city's most influential families was assassinated, his youngest son, Finn Wallace (Joe Cole) jumped at the chance to arrest control over the growing power struggle. With horror maven Corin Hardy now lead director on the show it is perhaps no surprise that the levels of gore and violence are ramped up. Eyes are gouged, limbs are severed, it’s a show ideally watched with your own gang so you can share in the communal gasps and flinches. Really it’s a show that would benefit from the big screen. Like season one, Gangs of London season two is the closest you’ll get to cinema from a TV show. The whole thing looks stunning, the cityscapes are gothic and strange, while looking ultra modern at the same time, and the cinematography is gorgeous, with this season leaning into occasional slow mo for certain stand out ‘money shots’. Asif Afridi has been pushed out of chief position as the head of the all London gangs, while Lale was betrayed by lover Sean and handed over to Mr Afridi to meet her death. But a last minute decision to help Shannon and rescue Ed changes everything for Elliot. While his father waits for him at the airport Sean has sent a goon to assassinate him. When Elliot discovers it was Sean who betrayed him it pushes him over the edge. A mission to destroy Sean in Paris results in extensive loss of life – Elliot’s a full on criminal now, and by the end of the series has vowed to take everything Sean ever had. Saba and Faz He has a vision of his father standing in front of him, presumably to call into question his actions. A subconscious warning to stop before things go too far. Don't worry, this crisis of morality won't hold him for long.Ahead of the UK release date, Sky released a new red band trailer teasing some of the brutal action sequences and establishing the new way that things have changed in London.

Marian reveals that not only did she double-cross Sean by stealing his drug shipment but that it is her duplicitous actions that have helped to put Billy in danger. She insists she was trying to protect them both from the alliance Sean had made with Koba but this doesn't wash with him.

That will certainly be a big question in season three. Who is working with who and who will come out on top? Elliot is not the only one who's out for revenge. Koba (Waleed Zuaiter) means to kill Saba (Jahz Armando) for helping Elliot in his foiled assassination attempt of him and Sean. His presence naturally invites challenge, even from behind bars, and there's no greater rivalry to finish season two on than the one between Sean and Elliot. There is a meeting of the gangs, all the major factions are seated around a table. Elliot walks in as his last conversation with Sean can be heard over the present goings-on.
