The Flipswitch Panels must be activated to spawn a Fire Flower, and Fire Mario can then destroy the snowman and catch the Star Bunny. Super Mario Maker 2 has Fire Luigi return, as Luigi has been absent as a fully playable character in its predecessor. Fire Luigi has a yellow-green hat and overalls in the Super Mario Bros. style and a yellow-green hat and shirt in the Super Mario Bros. 3 style (instead of sharing Fire Mario's color scheme, as in those games). Super Mario Maker 2 also depicts Fire Toad and Fire Toadette in older styles, though Toad is blue, so his fire forms resemble Blue Toad's fire form in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Fire Toadette's appearance is rather similar to that of her appearance in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, although her pants are white rather than red. They first appear in a group of two in an Enemy Course in Desert Land, which can only be defeated after breaking a boulder in the desert with a hammer. In this game, they shoot the fire from their mouths. Once they are defeated, Mario or Luigi obtains a Magic Whistle. Princess Peach's fourth letter mentions the Fire Brother indirectly as an unidentified thief that stole a Whistle and escaped to the east of the desert. One also appears in the first Hand Trap level of Dark Land.
