Description

I haven’t tested it, but something tells me you could have a USB boot from that port and drop the need for the microSD card entirely. Experts in the field will have no problem getting it done, but troubleshooting NAS issues can be a pain, especially if you are doing things for the first time. Hidden under the plastic is an I2C OLED screen which, when setup, displays pertinent data such as CPU use, IP address, temperatures and storage levels. We left the cooling at the default values and left the Argon EON to settle before running a stressberry test. The positioning of the power switch makes it very easy to hit it when handling the device, which can punish the impatient when moving things around.

I've taken it out and flipped it around, so it's extracting hot air from the top of the case instead of just redistributing it. I decided to set a custom fan profile which wouldn’t spin over 50% until the temperature is hitting 70℃ in an attempt to keep the Argon Eon case as quiet as possible in normal operation. As Raspberry Pi 4 has removed the biggest limitation of the board for NAS use, Argon Eon offers access at 1Gbps via Ethernet. The aluminium body naturally conducts and dissipates heat which is backed up by a built-in controllable 60mm fan to cool both the Raspberry Pi and hard disks even at heavy loads. I already have SATA to USB adapters for these drives in my possession, I just need to dig out the actual disk shield.now i'm worried, if it really is that simple (apart from the reverse proxy issue) why isn't it the default solution? Setting debug = Y in the General section enables debug tracking of the fan settings in the file /var/log/argoneon. The case includes a vast array of bonus features, the power button doubles as an OLED that can be used to display temperatures, the NAS's IP address, and many others. The Argon EON case for the Raspberry Pi 4 ( not included) allows you to build your very own 4-bay Raspberry Pi NAS! I have an entire article dedicated to the differences between Synology Diskstation and Argon Eon setup – check it out!

I’m just trying to install the scripts, however installation process hangs, apparently while starting argononed.Sure we have a choice of SSD or HDD SATA drives, but they all connect to the Raspberry Pi 4 via a single USB 3. If the fan speed is set to above 1 and the fan has *not* been triggered, it seems to work fine; if it *has* been triggered the bottom few lines are entirely missing. However we'll be updating all the Argon Cases for the Raspberry Pi 5 to maximize all the new features of the RPi5.

Argon has also baked versatility into the design with a built-IR port that works with the firm’s remote control (reviewed last month), perfect for a home theatre setup. However, after we removed the Explorer HAT Pro from the breakout board, the system powered up as normal. My EON is running as a NAS drive as well as a plex media server in it’s current setup and I have plans to test if it can expand to host a couple of security cameras as well. This gives us the fastest OS available and removes any need for a desktop OS, this NAS will live on our network serving files, not pushing pixels. There are issues, however, that are hard to overlook and anyone getting Argon Eon should be aware of these.

He is a creative technologist and for seven years has created projects to educate and inspire minds both young and old. With the original script I was able to prevent this by commenting out the HDD checking as is described elsewhere on the forum. As reboots of all machines involved didn’t help much (it found the server, and allowed for SSH but didn’t fix the web UI issue. Looks like the screen corrupts when the fan's set below "100" and breaks entirely at the slowest speeds. Seems to be quite a bit faster but some things changed like the USB ports being switched, which makes it impossible to use it with the EON because it would mean using the HDDs with a USB2. This is a NAS, plain and simple but unlike other NAS units, the Argon EON exudes an aesthetic that would be at home in The Expanse. They shifted while I was installing 'em, but it should still offer improved contact over the bare metal.
