Description

Ready for a duch oven or BBQ outdoor cook competition yet miles from running water? Our scout troop uses this Hand Washing Station to clean up before, and during meal food prep. While this new wash station can't make campers wash their hands, it can make it easier, and prevent a soaking; all while conserving water. Washing dishes is what uses the most water. We cook a lot, so we wash a lot of dishes! You might get less grey water than we do.

Whale GP4618 Compact Manual Fresh Water Foot Operated Pump

The dowels (glued into holes in the wood base) allow the bulb to move up and down freely when pumped. The open top of the dowels make for easy installation and removal of the bulb for storage. Clarke’s budget pump went head to head with the Halfords Essential on price. It costs just 40p more, and its foot plate is exactly the same size, although it’s covered in rubber for extra grip, which was handy in wet conditions. Per manufacturer: “The most efficient use of the accumulator occurs with the accumulator pressure set at the same pressure as the pump’s re-start setting.” (Hint: it’s 40 PSI for the Shurflo Revolution 4008 pump). We tested different pressures, and we prefer to set it to 30 PSI as the water volume capacity is greater at that pressure (therefore, the pump cycles less). Whale's manual galley pumps are truly design classics. Since the 1960s these manual pumps have been designed refined and manufactured by our skilled UK based workforce. Most portable showers feature a similar design, including a water reservoir and a means to deliver that water, be it by gravity or a dedicated pump. Here are the five main styles of portable showers for camping:The tanks we recommend (see “Water Tank Links” table above) have 1/2″ NPT female vent ports (so a 1/2″ NPT male fitting is required). It totally depends on your usage and how many days of autonomy (without having to fill) you want. As a rough guideline and to help you make your calculations, here is our usage living full-time in the van: We began this study by considering the most important aspects of an outdoor shower. Each year, we carefully select the best we can find and use them for subsequent summers, paying close attention to how well they perform in key areas. To assess functionality, we measured the widths of the showerhead streams and the lengths of the hoses. If possible, we took them apart and cleaned them to examine ease of use, and we dropped them, full of water, from a height of over 6 feet to get a sense of their durability. We bathed ourselves, muddy dogs, and numerous filthy trail-building crews. In the end, the best models revealed themselves and are highlighted below.

Keep clean anytime, anywhere with the best portable showers

I was wondering how you installed your grey water draining pipe through the floor, did you simply drill a hole down through the vinyl, wood, insulation and metal, or did you plan it in advance? Wondering if I should plan my floor holes before installing the floor insulation. Reply That being said, we fill our 25 gallon tank every 4-5 days in summer (depending on showers). Every 7-10 days in winter (we shower in aquatic centers or gyms and try to fill our 1L water bottles as often as we can in public places). If storage is a key factor, then you’ll be tempted by this pump, which is the narrowest here at just 112cm at the chassis and still comes with a large, rubber-covered foot plate. The downside was that the narrow design made the Sealey a little unstable, so it had to be placed on fairly level ground.

Atwood has a wide range of water heater models, but the one that catches our attention is the G8A-6E model: Any reason you switched from the braided vinyl tubing you were initially using (as seen in some photos) to the Shurflow Silencer kit? Did the braided vinyl tubing not reduce noise, or did it leak? Just wondering if I should go with the silencer kit or if any old tubing would do. Thanks! Reply

Whale Tiptoe Standard Mark 4 Pump – GP1309 - Big White Box

Its easy (and fun) to use...so it gets used! (apparently its cool to squirt water with a foot pump) It’s best to plan ahead to prevent drilling through something important, but that’s not always possible right?! Van Scans and 3D Models: 10% OFF Scans (code "FarOutRide") and 5% OFF 3D Models (code "FarOutModel"). The on-demand pump system uses a lot less water (compared to letting gravity spill it from a water jug spigot.Portable electric camp showers: From bicycles to surfboards, everything has a battery now, so it’s no surprise that even portable showers are getting electrified, too. The Clarke has a very similar design to the Sealey FP4, although the chequer-plate foot pad is nearly a third larger. We liked the four rubber feet – some pumps only had two at the rear – and the hose length was also okay, at 66cm.

This is the method we recommend for permanent, leak-free connections. It’s easy, fast, fun (yep!) and there is very little chance for error. It’s also good to know that a clamp tool can clamp any ring size (as opposed to crimp). Here is how it goes: That depends on how often you don’t mind having to empty it. As a guideline, we empty our 4 gallon grey water tank almost every day:Which means after the next 4 washes, the "discussion" about whose turn it is to fetch more water will start. Which will be followed by a unanimus scout group decision that their hands are not really that dirty after all) For a more elaborate alternative, LifeSaver’s Jerrycan Shower Attachment attaches to most jerrycan-style water jugs. If you’re the fancy sort who needs a legit hot shower, even off-grid, Coleman’s 5-Gallon Camp Shower is a straightforward plastic bag that uses nothing more than the sun’s rays to deliver a nice hot shower. How many gallons for a camp shower? Remember, this extra precaution is because we use the van below freezing temperatures! If that’s not your case, there’s probably no point in doing this. Feed the Spout, and Tubing Assembly down through the Spout Riser pipes and thread the reducer fitting onto the top of the 1/2" Spout Riser Pipe. The analogue gauge features three scales, but has no target needle, and we found the gauge some way off, reading 4psi off at 25 and 27psi, which really hurt its chances. The pressure increase was 2psi, which seems okay, but three of its test rivals produced half as much again and the Clarke was one of the slowest performers.
