I’ve loved you since the day I barbecued your babies and pushed you down the jungle gym just so I could kiss you. I honestly can't remember the last time I read a book in one sitting, let alone stayed up all night because I couldn't put it down. At the beginning of the story, i really liked their characters but at the end they were intolerable. He tastes like cherry Jolly Ranchers, bad decisions, and a vulnerability I could spend my whole life trying to outrun. They also agreed to keep their identities until Vee accidentally finds out that she’s been corresponding and texting Xavier Emery.

The author perpetrates the trope that the female lead must be docile and take shit from people just based on this skewed idea of love. No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins.

Our two leads are Aveena and Xavier (by the way how do authors always think of the best names and/or cute nicknames- just how? I mean i get it, seriously i relate to Aveena a bit because she is shy and awkward and she feels bad that her bff changing, i get it trust me, but then, fucking then. I know that because of this book I’ll be reading a LOT more books from Eliah Greenwood in the near future! She was able to discover new things about herself while learning love and strengthening friendships as well as gaining friendships as well.

It hit all the marks of an enemies to lovers/high school romance, a mistaken identity, opposites attract romance. When she goes back to get the letter before someone reads it and ruins her scholarship deal (ofcourse), she finds a letter left for her. A unique penpal type situation kicks off our story- where our opposites attract heroine and hero meet anonymously by jarringly honest and emotional confessions penned in books in the school library. What was disappointing was Vee made Dia promise not to do hard drugs, but she came up with the idea to try shrooms with Lacey. at the beginning it was a realistic highschool story kinda, there was no drama, it was very realistic and i loved it but again, towards the end ( from 60%) it became very dramatic and the characters went from amazing to okayish to tolerable to annoying to get the fuck out. She shows such resilience in her strength, not allowing herself to stray away from who she is, even if it means trying things she NEVER would've normally done.
