Soundwave was seen flying into battle with Laserbeak in some kid's living room. Robots in Disguise! The Transformers Are by Your Side!? Megatron and Starscream had reproduced. It was a rumor that had long existed but few knew the full extent of. Soundwave and Starscream were sent to investigate strange reports of space-time warps and UFOs on the planet Zel Samine, bringing a space bridge with them on their shuttle that they would use to transport Megatron to the plant once they had landed. Inexplicably, their ship wound up crashing, and when they attempted to use the space bridge, it malfunctioned, dumping Megatron some distance away. After reuniting with his leader, Soundwave deduced that powerful electromagnetic rays from Zel Samine's sun, Paradius, were responsible for scrambling the systems of the shuttle and the space bridge, and that the Decepticons themselves would be subject to similar catastrophic system disruption if they tried venturing off the planet without a ship. The Decepticons immediately set about raiding local energy sources for energon to repair their craft, starting with a wind power plant on Mount Jaad. Then, after successfully draining the Ranpas Geothermal Power Plant—in part thanks to Soundwave deploying Laserbeak to locate any Autobot guards around the facility—Megatron chose the Monogan Hydroelectric Power Station for their next target. Soundwave pointed out the heavy Autobot fortifications that had been set up around the station and suggested a different target, but Megatron dismissed his concerns, and when the Decepticons did indeed emerge victorious, Soundwave apologized for speaking out of turn and doubting his leader.

Soundwave was in the audience of a tag battle pitting Optimus Prime and Bumblebee against Megatron and Starscream. Oddly enough, he cheered when it seemed that the Autobots were going to win the match... Last Bot Standing Ability: Cobra Command - Follow Cobra’s command! Aim at a defence and the H.I.S.S. Tank will deal some damage. Defences in the area receive 20% (2-Star) / 30% (3-Star) / 40% (4-Star) more damage and get prioritized by all bots for 3.5 seconds. Soundwave's Cybertronian design in Bumblebee is heavily inspired by his Generation 1 namesake. Many aspects appear to be based on the Titans Return Leader class Soundwave toy in particular, including the squarish, boxy head, the tape door that 'protrudes' from his chest, and his handheld weapon that closely resembles G1 Blaster's electro-disruptor rifle (a blue redeco of which was included with Titans Return Soundwave) instead of Soundwave's iconic concussion blaster. Soundwave continued to try to decode more data from the Iacon archives, in a continuation of Orion Pax's work. When Airachnid requested Megatron's approval to take point in the hunt for the relics, Megatron requested that Soundwave remind him of her previous words when she planned to abandon him. Later, after Dreadwing and Breakdown's failure to execute her, Soundwave began tracing Airachnid's location during her communication to the Nemesis for Megatron. Crossfire Soundwave knows that out of all the radio transmissions in the universe, Megatron's favorite song is the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic theme. Megatron's Favorite SongThat is, until she meets the autobots. Startled by the familiarity she feels around them, especially with Optimus Prime, Azura is unsure about their presence even though they saved her life. However, Optimus himself realizes who she could be. A guilt from the past that he has never been able to shake, even if the incident at the time was not his fault, and he now has the chance to make up for it. Though Soundwave appears remote, detached and clinical, he secretly delights in the cries and screams of his enemies. It's literally music to his audio receptors. Soundwave and Hot Rod were confronted by the Scientist’s collection of Soundwaves. When Megatron returned from the multiverse, Soundwave was granted a power boost alongside other alliance members. Using his elevated power, Soundwave incapacitated his alternate universe doppelgangers, declaring them inferior. Following Starscream’s destruction, Soundwave was present as Optimus and Megatron established a ceasefire between Autobots and Decepticons. Before too long, Megatron grew tired of the Klingons, only being swayed when they revealed their cloaking technology, allowing Trypticon to scan their downed warbird. The Titan used the cloaking device to bait a trap for the Enterprise, crippling it, with Soundwave scrambling the human ship's distress beacon.
