Airey, Jacob (2022-11-07). " 'Batman: The Knight' Issue 9 Comic Book Review". StudioJake Media . Retrieved 2022-11-29. Superman is indirectly responsible for Batman's development of Failsafe following Tower of Babel. It was his argument with Bruce in the Cave about why there was no anti-Batman protocol and how saying 'the League will stop me' is ill-thought-out. This conversation fueled Bruce's doubts and led to him 'outsourcing' the creation of such a contingency to Zur En Arrh. Steve Murray (born December 21, 1975 [1]), known by the pen-name Chip Zdarsky ( / z ə ˈ d ɑːr s k i/ [2]), is a Canadian comic book artist and writer, journalist, illustrator and designer. He has also used the pseudonym Todd Diamond. [3] He worked for National Post for over a decade, until 2014, as an illustrator and humorist (as Steve Murray) and wrote and illustrated a column called "Extremely Bad Advice" for the paper as well as The Ampersand, the newspaper's pop culture section's online edition.

This strikes the perfect balance between story telling and showing, of letting the panels speak and illustrating the progression of what Bruce is observing. That panel of him in the shadows under the tree was the "it" moment for me, like you can see Batman's entire ideology right there. And you can see Alfred changing. In the beginning, he holds the umbrella over Bruce who's wrapped in Alfred's coat, but later, Alfred walks ahead, wearing his coat and holding the umbrella over his head as Bruce follows behind. The art says so much, but the bits gleaned in text are just as vocal, leading Bruce to observe more and evolve, but not letting him off easy. He thinks he knows what to do, equating fighting smartly with not getting caught while still focusing on expanding his physical skills. But when he sees Alfred break, he finally sees what everyone has been/is trying to get him to see, but still views it through his view of the world, which is not their view of the world. From the moment Tini and I started working on these titles, we realized we had a huge opportunity to build toward something that would shake up the power structure of Gotham City,” said Batman writer Chip Zdarsky. “The Gotham War is just that: relationships explode, relationships are formed, and it all leads to massive changes! Being able to take these kinds of big swings together has been extremely exciting.” We also have the emotional goodbye with Alfred. I only hope he did find Leslie okay. Maybe we'll see them all again one day. I will admit Zdarsky writes Batman a little less ashamed to show some emotion toward his "family" than most modern writers who usually keep giving him the brooding loner image. We never know what the future holds in the world of publishing, but how many arcs do you currently have planned for Batman? Personally speaking, I'd like to see DC keep you on the title for as long as you're interested in doing it.Batman: The Knight is an American comic book published by DC Comics. The 10-issue limited series, written by Chip Zdarsky and illustrated by Carmine Di Giandomenico, began publication on January 18, 2022.

The Reveal: Issue 135 reveals that the Arkham Series Batman ultimately survived the Knightfall Protocol, going completely underground but still implicitly operating as Batman. There are definitely thematic throughlines from The Knight to Batman. In The Knight, Bruce is full of youthful hubris. In Batman, that youthful hubris catches up to him. In The Knight he’s worried about failing because he doesn’t know enough. In Batman, he’s worried about failing because he knows enough now to see it coming. Gayen, Sayantan (January 21, 2022). "DC's Batman: The Knight #1 Comic Review". Comic Book Resources . Retrieved July 22, 2022.

Steve Murray was born in Edmonton, Alberta and raised in Barrie, Ontario. [ citation needed] Career [ edit ] Batman’s foray in the multiverse is just the latest in a line-wide initiative by DC to embrace the possibilities of the multiverse. For years, DC didn’t officially have a multiverse at all following its canonical destruction at the end of Marv Wolfman and George Perez’s Crisis on Infinite Earths as a means to streamline continuity. This decision would be undone with 2005’s Infinite Crisis by Geoff Johns, et. al, with the restoration of a multiverse, albeit limited to 52 universes at the time. It wasn’t until Joshua Williamson and Daniel Sampere’s Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths that the multiverse would expand into an infinite number of universes once again.

Though well-known creators from Frank Miller to Ed Brubaker and many more have worked on both Daredevil and Batman, Zdarsky may be the first writer to write both DC's premiere urban vigilante and Marvel's at the same time. The creative team of writers Chip Zdarsky and Tini Howard and artists Mike Hawthorne and Adriano Di Benedetto will also cap off the crossover event with Batman/Catwoman: The Gotham War – Scorched Earth #1, available on October 31. Details on the final issue in the Gotham War event will be released soon. Remember the New Guy?: It turns out Oswald Cobblepot had managed to father several children. Only one of them, Ethan Cobblepot, was actually known before this run. Both your Red Hood story in Batman: Urban Legends and Batman: The Knight deal with the rift between fathers and sons, whether that’s Bruce and Jason or Bruce and Alfred. In your Batman series, Bruce is partnered again with Tim Drake. What is that relationship like? Reviewing the first issue of Batman: The Knight, Sayantan Gayen of Comic Book Resources commented that "Bruce Wayne follows a path of self-discovery, reconciliation, and vengeance. While it seems likeDC Comicsis currently running a plethora of Batman titles and crossovers across the board, Batman: The Knight#1 looks to bring more color and dimension toGotham's wealthiest kid". At the end of his analysis, Gayen wrote: "Chip Zdarsky uses the debut issue of Batman: The Knightto propelBruce Wayne on a lengthy trialto strengthen his mind, soul, and body". [32]Merry X-Men Holiday Special: "The Gift That Keeps On Giving" (writer/artist, one-shot, February 2019)

Zdarsky also wrote an earlier Batman miniseries, Batman: The Knight which was about Bruce Wayne's training before becoming Batman, and which he has hinted will also connect to this run. Stories like these made everything in DC history additive-- now every story matters on some level, each working as a part of the ever-growing tapestry that is the DCU and as alternate takes and adaptations on the core universe.Ambiguous Time Period: Arkham Batman is an odd case. His outfit seems to be post- Arkham City, but the description of his life is post- Arkham Knight, with no reason given why he would reduce his armaments. Still, the plot was still rather boring and this was in no way a great story. In fact It wasn't really an enjoyable one either. But it was a satisfying conclusion. I'll give it that. Uh, the Sales team is looking over at me and nodding their heads furiously. Oh my god…does one of them have a gun?!
