Maalox Plus tablets should not be taken at the same time as other medicines. This is because Maalox Plus Tablets can affect the way other medicines work. If Maalox Plus Tablets are taken within one hour of any other medicine, they can affect the uptake of that medicine into the blood. Medicines and their possible side effects can affect individual people in different ways. The following are some of the side effects that are known to be associated with this medicine. Just because a side effect is stated here does not mean that all people using this medicine will experience that or any side effect. Children aged 2 to 5 years should be given one 5ml spoonful no more than three times a day, 20 minutes to one hour after meals or at bedtime, as needed to relieve symptoms. If it isn’t diagnosed and treated promptly, it can be fatal. A single mosquito bite is all it takes for someone to become infected. Symptoms of malaria It’s important to be aware of the symptoms of malaria if you’re travelling to areas where there’s a high risk of the disease. Symptoms include: 1. A high temperature of 38C or above 2. Feeling hot and shivery 3. Headaches 4. Vomiting 5. Muscle pains 6. Diarrhoea Symptoms usually appear between 7 and 18 days after becoming infected, but in some cases the symptoms may not appear for up to a year, or occasionally even longer. However, other medicines may be safely used in pregnancy or breastfeeding providing the benefits to the mother outweigh the risks to the unborn baby. Always inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, before using any medicine. Some medicines may be affected by magnesium hydroxide or they may affect how well magnesium hydroxide will work. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are already taking: - salicylates. Caution is advised when used concomitantly with polystyrene sulphonate due to the potential risks of reduced effectiveness of the resin in binding potassium, of metabolic alkalosis in patients with renal failure (reported with aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide), and of intestinal obstruction (reported with aluminium hydroxide). Maalox plus tablets contain glucose, sucrose and sorbitol and should not be taken by people with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency. When prescribed by a doctor it may also be used for lowering the amount of acid in your stomach or gut (intestine) when you have an ulcer

You are allergic (hypersensitive) to dried aluminium hydroxide gel, magnesium hydroxide, simeticone or any of the other ingredients in Maalox Plus. Signs of an allergic reaction include: a rash, swallowing or breathing problems, swelling of your lips, face, throat or tongue This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients.
