Description

As interest in the study of identity has steadily blossomed, this handbook comes at the perfect time. The chapters, written by an impressive roster of international scholars from many disciplines, are creative and expansive in scope, providing both comprehensive overviews and new insights. It is sure to be an essential resource for years to come.’ Maliszewski, Paul (1 November 1998). "Identity". Review of Contemporary Fiction . Retrieved 20 March 2020.

She also has many musings about fathers and observes children on the beach. This is a reoccurring theme within the novel and references her anxieties about the death of her child with a previous partner. She feels this period of her life was her prime, allowing a sense of unease and decline to shape her sense of self throughout the novel. Below are my play by play thoughts while reading the book — though I don’t think I’m spoiling anything they could be interpreted I suppose as spoilers. We often see the inner turmoil of Okonkwo, which he hides from his family, such as the difference between what he feels and how he acts to preserve his sense of identity. Do you think that tension is well articulated?

Nora. Roberts. She does it again. Her books I like to sprinkle in my reading here and there and this one didn’t read like a regular NR book. It just felt different. I loved every part of it. You feel for Morgan and the horrific turn of events known as her life. Her and Nina’s friendship was idealistic. You really feel for Morgan after what happens—it’s an absolute travesty but at least she has a huge family house in Vermont that she can go off to and not worry about paying the utilities. Roberts is a master at delivering well-written, highly entertaining stories that are hard to put down with strong, capable heroines and handsome, respectful heroes. The inclusion of family in Identity showcases Morgan's strong connection to her roots even as she rebuilds her life and learns to trust her own judgment and another man again. Strong threads of family, friendship, love, loss, grief and resilience are strong and flawlessly woven throughout. Fans of romance suspense will enjoy Identity as will readers of suspense thrillers. Highly recommended. Günter Mey - Professor of Developmental Psychology, University of Applied Sciences Magdeburg-Stendal, Germany, and Editor of Forum: Qualitative Social Research If you are struggling with your identity or know someone who is, this book will help you. Andrew writes with great honesty, clarity and understanding. If you are wrestling in your personal or public life with these realities or issues I think you will read with increasing relief and gratitude. Two scriptures kept coming to mind “In your light, we see light” (Psalm 36:9) and “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). - Keith Sinclair, National Director Church of England Evangelical Council i read this book first on wattpad and the nostalgia i had re-reading literally put me in my feels; it still stayed true to original story but all the little edits here and there made it 10x better 🫶

I once read her proudly state she wrote every word of every one of her books and to that I say, wow what an accomplishment. If she’s paid by the word I wouldn’t be surprised as there are so many conversations, descriptions and superfluous bullshit liberally spread through this entire joke of a book that is the ONLY explanation of why this was so long and drawn out. Also, the woman can’t make a complete sentence if her damn life depended on it. Even the conversations are that scattered. Absolutely no one talks like that outside of a liberal elite think tank. Anyhoo. So, another great book by one of my most favorite authors, and I'm already exited about the next one. This debate, and its ramifications, serve as an example of how history, with a capital ‘H’, continues to move forward. Liberal democracy is not a fixed concept, and these challenges mean it will continue to evolve in ways we cannot yet foresee.

Summary of Finding Your Best Identity

What got me the most about this read in particular was Miles. He's quiet, and poised, and carries his power with an invisible suite (as Morgan says). He treats her with so much respect that it's hard to imagine I ever believed Luke to be her match. He stands up for her, he lets her hold her own more than any other male I've ever read by Nora. The narration by January LaVoy is outstanding, bringing the characters and their emotions to life. LaVoy's voice modulation and portrayal of different characters are impeccable, immersing me in the story and adding an extra layer of authenticity to the audiobook experience. Her nuanced performance perfectly captures the essence of the characters, enhancing the overall enjoyment of the story. This handbook takes a multidimensional and cross-disciplinary view of identity studies. A truly international project, this is an authoritative and accomplished handbook. It is sure to be an invaluable resource for social scientists for many years to come.’ This story is long, yes, but I was never bored. I loved the way the suspense stuff, which was appropriately creepy, blended amongst the everyday happenings in Morgan’s new life in small-town Vermont. Identity" is an engrossing book that seamlessly combines mystery, suspense, and a captivating romance. The link to the audiobook can be found here Identity: A Novel, narrated by January LaVoy. With its compelling plot and well-developed characters like Nina and Morgan, this novel held me in its grip from start to finish.

This book is perfect for learning about cutting-edge identity research. The editors have carefully structured the book by disassembling the meaning of the word ‘identity’ and repositioning it in various contexts. This successfully allows the chapters to shed new light on the concept.’ In this handbook, renowned authors from 20 different countries outline a broad overview of approaches to identity theory and research. The international perspectives and the endeavour for a qualitative inquiry reflect the cultural diversity in this field and inspire future directions in theorizing identity processes.’Soon, a horrific truth emerges: It was Morgan who let the monster in. "Luke” is actually a cold-hearted con artist named Gavin who targets a particular type of woman, steals her assets and identity, and then commits his ultimate goal: murder.

IDENTITY by Nora Roberts is a perfectly balanced romantic suspense that I read straight through in one sitting. This is a standalone story featuring a young, vibrant professional bartender who becomes “the one who got away” from an obsessive serial killer who steals his victims’ identities, drains their accounts, strangles them, and then robs all their valuables. Hegel pointed to a fundamental truth about modern politics, that the great passions unleashed by events such as the French Revolution were at base struggles over dignity. The inner self was not just a matter of personal reflection; its freedom was to be embodied in rights and law. The democratic upsurge that would unfurl in the two centuries after the French Revolution was driven by peoples demanding recognition of their political personhood, that they were moral agents capable of sharing in political power. Morgan Albright is finally living her best life. She’s put down roots in a small, friendly town outside of Baltimore and that’s extremely important given the vagabond life she led as an Army brat. Her best friend Nina Ramos is also her roommate, helping with the mortgage, and Morgan loves both of her jobs. She works for a wonderful family-owned home construction business and loves her part time job as a bartender. But it all shatters when the handsome IT expert Luke Hudson inserts himself into her life, leaving death, destruction and heartbreak in his wake. He’s actually Gavin Rozwell, a con artist who first charms his intended victim, steals her identity and then kills her as he leaves town. But, he had to leave before he could murder Morgan who remains the one who got away, forced to retreat to her mother’s home in Vermont, broken and destitute. After confirming with a graphologist that the letters were written by Jean-Marc in a different style, she confronts him when he was just about to admit the ruse. An implication of this confrontation is that Jean-Marc, who lives in Chantal's apartment, feels closer to his fears of becoming a beggar. The love story was definitely of lesser focus than Morgan and her fight to rebuild a life for herself post-trauma, but it needed to be. Miles, the love interest, was likeable enough but I was thankful their budding relationship didn’t overshadow the seriousness of the threats still at hand.Morgan is capable, resilient, a person who makes plans and works towards them, responsible, organized, a fast learner, and creative. Several characters have an impact on Morgan. Luke Hudson is friendly, interesting, a good listener, and confident. Miles Jameson is attractive, blunt, kind, considerate, and respects and values others. These characters, as well as several others in the novel, are well defined with depth and complex traits. They were portrayed in a way that brought them to life. Sunil Bhatia - Professor of Human Development and Chair of the Human Development Department, Connecticut College, USA Anytime I see January LaVoy listed as the narrator, I’m more than interested. She always makes it seem like there are multiple narrators, skillfully handling a host of characters, delivering an outstanding performance on every level including great storytelling. FYI, she’s tied for the #1 spot on my list of favorite narrators. Identity shows the side of love that is not commonly discussed in romance novels. Love isn’t always fun and games, and Identity perfectly captures that and explains the not so pretty side of relationships, while still making As well-written and consuming as any Nora Roberts story I’ve ever read—and there have been many— Identity is romantic suspense at its slightly disturbing and engrossing best.
