Unfortunately this box is pretty lousy for pure Nighthaunts. Hexwraiths are underwhelming on the tabletop and Spirit Hosts are usually passed over for the more disposable and flexible Chainrasps. Pure Nighthaunt can’t even take the Mortis Engine either, leaving it a dead weight for the brunt of the box’s cost.

If two of the dice show the same value, they can be used to activate a Double ability. If three show the same value, they can be used for a Triple ability, and so on. The Mortals side has some interesting battalions at the present, but I think they ask a bit too much for what you pay to meet their requirements. One frustrating thing is that Kairics don’t get a discount if you take them at a max size, and Tzaangors on foot are far too expensive at 180 points for 10.Contents: 1 x Ishrann Soulrender (Hero), 10 x Namarti Thralls (Battleline) and 3 x Arkhelian Guard (Batteline if General is Arkhelian Hero) The Nurgle stratagems tend to favor making your units harder to kill. This works well with their stratagem of being annoyingly difficult to remove from objectives. Hideous Visage: Enemy units within 12” get -1 Ld and -2 within 6”. This is just not what you want from an Exalted greater daemon, and most of the reason you don’t want to roll for Great Unclean Ones. D Mike P: Sinuous Undulation is great for protecting your Contorted Epitome (which is, surprisingly, Cavalry) from sniper fire. Between access to this stratagem and the 2+ save against Mortal Wounds, the Contorted Epitome survives sniper fire very well and serves as a great caddy for the Forbidden Gem relic. Exalted Keeper of Secrets (1 CP)

Chaos Daemons have access to a number of relics, with every god but Nurgle getting four plus another three for each introduced in Engine War that can only be given to Exalted greater daemons. Nurgle only gets 3 base relics, because the followers of Nurgle can’t have nice things.Tips on painting a Tzeentch Daemons Warband for Warcry What changed in the new edition for the Tzeentch Daemons Warband? This box plus a load more skeletons will see you off to a good start towards a LoN army, Soulblight army or any of the Legions of Sacrament lists.

Any Hedonites of Slaanesh force is going to want at least one of these boxes, as when you first start out they can form a nice little core to your forces – but when you eventually develop out your forces to a full 2000 points you can phase some of these models out and use them as forces to bring on thanks to your summon mechanic – an essential buy in our opinion. Where this warband will struggle are the missions in which you have to defend a certain group. Splitting a horror will count as your warrior being taken down, so be ready to play cat and mouse and bombard your enemies with your magic missiles. As for the Chaos Lord on Karkadrak – it’s a fun little combat monster that has impressive offensive and defensive capabilities, a nice leader to have when you’re learning a new faction. Soul Sacrifice (2 CP) – Use when a Chaos Character from your army tries to summon a unit of Daemons using a Daemonic Ritual. The character takes D3 mortal wounds, but you can roll 4 dice instead of 3 for the attempt, and while the summoned unit is within 6″ of the summoner, it re-rolls hit rolls of 1. You basically need this if you’re attempting to summon a Greater Daemon, where rolling 14+ on 3D6 just doesn’t give you enough of a chance to make that reliable, but you probably won’t need it otherwise, since 3D6 will do for most anything you’d actually want to summon. That said, it can be solid if you summon a large unit that can benefit from re-rolls, though you typically don’t want to be summoning things thanks to how the rules for summoning work. C-

Thousand Sons Codex

X1 – 2 boxes of Blue and Brim Horrors, same as above even if they're just for summoning, they make amazing screens Low Cost. Because you aren’t paying for cowardly ranged weapons on most of your units, Chaos Daemons are cheap. Bloodletters, Daemonettes, Plaguebearers, and Horrors are some of the game’s cheapest Troops units, and they receive bonuses for running more than 20 models in a unit which encourages you to take larger squads.

Marshalling his magical forces, he used all his power to send a message through the Immaterium to his father, the Emperor of Man. To say this didn’t go to plan is quite the understatement. Not only did he cause the deaths of millions on Terra as he fought his way past his father’s psychic defences, he inadvertently tore a warp rift into the throne room itself, letting the forces of Chaos in with him. This didn’t just anger the Emperor; at a single stroke, it ruined plans he had been pursuing for millennia. Suddenly, the bright, ascendant future the Emperor had envisioned for humanity was lost – and it was all Magnus’ fault. Here are some of the psychic powers you’ll spend a lot of time with if you’re planning on mastering Thousand Sons tactics: Chaos Daemons don’t have a ton of complicated army-wide special rules, but they make up for it with a lot of complicated special rules on individual units. How They Play in the New Edition

Mike P : The main reason you’ll see summoning used competitively is to get around detachment restrictions on HQ slots, or get around the Rule of 3. Want to run a list with 3 Patrols but need a 7th HQ slot, or want to clog the board up with more than 3 Beast of Nurgle units? You can summon more in once the game starts! Exalted Greater Daemons Armour of Scorn – Khorne Monsters only. Gives a model a 4+ Invulnerable save (very useful) and allows them to attempt to deny one psychic power in each enemy Psychic phase (also very useful). A fine upgrade since Khorne Daemon Monsters are essentially glass cannons most of the time. This doesn’t do much for you on a Daemon Prince since you’ll be able to hide him with the “Look Out, Sir!” rules, but is very useful on an Exalted Bloodthirster, particularly given the other defensive buffs you can get for him. B Mike P: While the Khorne, Tzeentch, and Nurgle loci are more “nice to have” than worth building around, the Slaanesh locus is mandatory for lists going heavy on Slaanesh Daemons. The extra d6” threat range gained from advancing and charging gives you the option to semi-reliably make turn 1 charges, and makes it much harder for your opponent to keep units safe all game.
