Ariana Rose Conrad, heiress of Mafia from Black Eagle Organization in modern world suddenly jump into another dimension which totally different than the world that she know.

A glamorous Hollywood starlet must fight for her life, her love, and her country in this epic 1930s tale. carrying around the 25 pounds that her father gave her but doesn't want to use it unless she has to. When an unexpected encounter leads to a house party with the Prince of Wales, Wallis's star begins to rise.Although Mrs Simpson had been held up as a ‘scarlet woman’ who tempted Britain’s king away from the throne, Holden takes a new stance, portraying her as an innocent, slightly naive woman who was out of her depth in aristocratic society. She worked in magazines for many years before joining Tatler's in 1997 as deputy editor, and later moved to the Mail on Sunday’s You magazine, which she left in 2000 to concentrate on writing. Hiernaast boeide de relatie tussen Ernest en Wallis mij niet zo, ik had graag meer nadruk gehad op hoe Wallis de prins leerde kennen en hoe het allemaal begon.

I wish the book had looked more into their marriage from the friendly relations with the Nazis leading up to the war to the alleged affairs Wallis had. In the beginning Wallis is striving to have more, to be included in the elusive world of the rich and royal. But then of course, we the reader would not have had the opportunity to witness the extraordinary feats of Angelique. Claire Willoughby risked losing millions in her inheritance if, as decreed by her grandfather, she did not wed an “acceptable” man. This captivating page-turner whisks readers back in time to Buckingham Palace in 1933…A majestic story that delves into the incredible life of Queen Elizabeth II before she took her place on the throne. At eighteen she is her father's closest, most trusted child, schooled in managing their grand estate. She soon wins the trust of Lady Anne of York, a lonely princess who becomes one of her staunchest allies. And will she dare risk everything when her one true love is tested by a passionate, dangerous obsession? Forever seeking love, protection and safety, whether through a reliable, loving husband or through the cushion of wealth, this Wallis is naïve, impressionable, insecure and yet still sensitive to the suffering of others, constantly seeking refuge in furthering her prospects in a brittle and alien society about which she knows very little.

I get that there are two sides to every story and that other takes on Wallis are very denigrating and she was probably more complicated, but this is a bit too much the other way for me. It is full of sumptuous descriptions of the lavish parties Wallis attends and unforgettable characters like the prince’s self-centered and fabulous former lover, Thelma Morgan. Simpson married Ernest, her second husband, and leads up when she meets the Prince of Wales and begins a relationship with him. You didn't even know that that woman invaded your wife's room while she's in pain for having that tea the woman gave her, she screams yet no one hear her?the first part of the book whilst slow was reasonably interesting then about 60% of the way in it descended to mawkish sentimentality and a completely unconvincing portrayal of both Prince of Wales and Mrs Simpson. I’m not entirely sure I found it plausible after the single-minded scheming to be noticed by anyone she considered noteworthy, but who knows?

Writing under her own name as well as Miranda Jarrett, her bestselling books have received numerous awards and honors. The Royal Governess is a fabulous read for not only devotees of period fiction and the British Royals, but anyone with a hunger for a well-crafted tale. In the faithful day that Duchess Ilya von Bismarck had been waiting for her whole life, she had finally uncovered the identity of the lone culprit who made, not only the Empire, but the world suffer.
