He literally went through so much just to get to her and gahh this GUY is so interestingly psychotic I couldn’t help but wait with bated breath to see what he was going to do next.

and summer has officially hit Mumbai and I'm slowly and steadily losing my mind from the heat and boredom. The story really keeps you on your toes, with loadsif twists and turns that will definitely shock you! The characters are amazingly written plus the intense tension between them like they were barely touching and I was ready to burst into flames. Criminal psychologist London Noble is made to take on a new patient, a serial killer, Grayson Pierce Sullivan, who has killed nine people, yet none of their bodies have ever been recovered.As said, I really enjoyed the psychological aspects of this story as well as the ways details of both main characters' pasts were peeled away layer by layer as the story progressed. I saw evil in this story and I damn sure heard it so that saying needs to go sit in a corner right now and take a nap. The whole time I was reading this I just wanted to laugh at the beautiful irony of someone like London being a criminal psychologist. This story was brilliant in every sense of the word and the author did something so extremely different. I really did enjoy this book, it was one I found myself racing towards the end to find out what happens but at the same time not really wanting it to end. She has attempted to leave her writing comfort zone and jump into a genre that is more gripping and dark than her previous works. idk if it's lawyer in me talking but i didn't feel it's justified just because he was killing rapists or people like that.As she unravels the traps, her sanity tested with each game, she's forced to acknowledge the true evil in the world around her. The author put in the perfect amount of darkness, thrill, tension alongwith the psychological details being the cherry on the top. I was in college waiting for a seminar to begin when I started this book, and I literally had to walk out because it was either that or put the book down, and I couldn’t put this book down goddammit! So right this second I closed that last page off and I’m sitting here flabbergasted, reeling, gob smacked, running over everything I just read, trying to make sense of it, twists and turns that had me spinning like a spinning wheel out of control, such a unique, suspenseful, things are not so black and white as they may seem, a nail biting read that has me wanting, needing, craving, stalking the next book in this series.

Because I am not a mermaid and the water is not my natural habitat, despite what I might desperately want. I can't say I loved the characters but I definitely loved the push and pull between them, as well as the overall plot. The dialogue felt a bit robotic and monotone, but that was defeated by the over empowering monologue with both the characters. There was so much that meets the eye when it came to these characters and knowing that there’s a darkness looming ahead, will make you literally eating out the palm of their hands in your quest to find answers.At times, the story could get confusing, but I learnt early that, that was the style of the flow and rhythm of the pace. I think the fact that we got a psychological and 'therapy' side to this story made things harder to deal with. This book wasn't super spicy, I'm hoping book 2 has a little bit more, but what was there was great! TW: violence; kidnapping; emotional, psychological and physical (sometimes) torture; death; pedophilia: obsession and suicide.
