Description

It comes with Hyperlift inserts that you can put under the heel’s insole to support movement and balance when squatting with weights. The Nike Metcon 7’s upper construction has been changed to a slightly softer mesh material. It’s fairly breathable and the upper has some additional synthetic materials covering the medial toe box, which is nice for durability during toe dragging exercises like burpees. Metcon 6 Premium has a harder foam under the heel for a protected feel and more flexible in the forefoot to bolster high-impact moves. It takes design cues from smooth, firm luggage and is almost 18% more breathable than the Metcon 5. This version has a lightweight mesh that allows airflow and keeps your foot cool while you lift, squat, and push.

Throw the included hyperlift wedges in under that removable midsole and you’ll add 8 mm of drop for a total of 12mm. Finding shoes to accommodate wide feet can be a pain. Thankfully within the cross-training niche, you have several good options available as a wider foot can mean a more stable foot, which can ultimately benefit your workouts. Our current favorite for wide feet is the Reebok Nano X2. The above video includes on feet, a detailed review of the features, and a side by side comparison with the Nike Metcon 5. Nike Metcon 6 X – Sizing

In an AMRAP workout, you’ll complete as many reps or rounds of an exercise as possible within a given time frame. Those with wider feet find the trainer a bit tight and recommend trying half-a-size up, BUT “if you have the Nike Metcon 5 and you are OK with the fit and feel – get the same size.” Another cool cross-training shoe construction perk worth noting is the tech that comes in certain models. For this list, we consider any unique construction characteristic as tech for the shoe itself. Tech could be considered the signature features in shoes like the Flyknit and Flywire offered in Nike shoes or the Flexweave in Reebok’s models. Also, things like TPU inserts and extended midsoles could also be considered tech. Final Word Now, it’s worth noting that Nike Metcon cross-training shoes tend to fit slimmer and more athletically. This means that for wider footed athletes, they can be a tad uncomfortable and when sizing up to prevent this that’s when we’ll typically see cases of heel slip.

First, the phosphagen pathway provides energy immediately during the first few reps or seconds of a workout or for short bouts of work — think sprints or 3 heavy squat reps. Floatride Energy Foam insole provides midsole comfort and stability, which is ideal for women with high archesThere’s no reason to believe the Nike Metcon 6 X is going to be any different than the regular Metcon 6. Find out more about the Nike Metcon 6 AMP shoes in our in-depth article. Nike Metcon 6 Premium Review – In Summary The shoe’s stability is achieved through the firm, smooth, and spacious heel and offers an extreme sense of touch with the ground. The heel cup and tongue materials were broad and kept their structure, while the upper is firm and designed to provide support. The forefoot is sufficiently supported with a light plastic wall around the toebox. It prevents the ball of the foot from going outside the toebox on the wrenching side to side movements like you would do in a shuttle or agility cone drill.

Metcon 6 Vs Nike Metcon 7 | Which Metcon Is Better? Nike Metcon 6 Vs Nike Metcon 7 | Which Metcon Is Better?

The Nike Metcon 6 performs really well in lifting settings. The outsole and midsole are plenty stable for supporting a variety of loads and I’ve squatted up to 365 lbs in this model with no issues with compression and have deadlifted up to 475 lbs. Overall, it’s just like a regular Nike Metcon 6. The TPU heel frame is labeled "step"– that’s how you depress it to slide your foot in. With agility and plyometrics, I think this model does a fairly good job at supporting performance. It’s stable and the split insole construction does provide a bit of responsiveness in the forefoot. This is pretty noticeable during repetitive bounding activities. Cross-training shoes can be a great addition to your gym gear — providing a stable base to lift from. They’re also generally lightweight, allowing you to move around better and more freely. Lightweight Compared to many of the other shoes on this list, the Under Armour HOVR Apex 3s are less stiff, with just a bit more give, all while being lightweight. The grippy rubber sole is great for landing those jumps, and UA’s HOVR foam cushioning is a great feature to help ensure comfort on ballistic/explosive movements. The strap construction allows for both forefoot movement and stabilization in the heel.It has a minimal drop for versatility (4mm). But, you can drop the “Hyperlifts” into the shoe and add 8mm of drop (6mm additional for Women.) What’s on the inside? A dual density drop-in midsole is made from two different kinds of foam – one firm (heel) one squishy (forefoot). This gives you cushion where you need it. Hyperlifts add drop – but only if you want it. The shoe is adorned with several callouts to Matt’s storied CrossFit career, and it looks pretty nice – that’s it. Circles on the heel represent Mat’s CrossFit Games wins. They better make them smaller on next year’s PE… as he won again in 2020.

Fortunately, despite receiving a ton of construction changes, the Nike Metcon 7 fits similarly to the Nike Metcon 6. In both models, you should be fairly safe going true to size.

How, you might ask? These workouts recruit all three of your body’s energy pathways — phosphagen, glycolytic, and oxidative — which all take turns generating adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to fuel your muscles ( 2).
