why are you calling me? Couldn’t you just text whatever you need to say? What kind of millennial are you? We’re supposed to be afraid of calling people.”

The writing reads and flows so easily and I found myself speeding through this even though I really wanted to savour it and make it last as long as I could. Jessica Joyce is a new and forever fave!" — Ali Hazelwood, New York Times bestselling author of Love, Theoretically Listen, I only think in Taylor Swift lyrics, and this book is what would happen if marjorie and invisible string had a baby.I love so much about it, but my favorite thing is the inherent comfort people find in the genre. Every book is different, but you know the foundation is that people are going to fall in love, and you can let down your guard because the end result—the HEA—is guaranteed. And it’s not just that they’re going to fall in love, it’s that they’re going to be seen for exactly who they are, accepted for that, loved for it. There’s something so absolutely and radically beautiful about that, especially in a world that feels more and more intolerant and dystopian by the day.

The heroine. I liked her at the beginning, but by the end she was driving me crazy with the choices she made. Let’s put it simply. She was a liar. She lied to Theo for not having a job, then lied to her partners about the trip. It’s not that hard and deep to say that you got laid off your job. At least she said that to him towards the end, but it’s a normal human thing. You don’t have to lie about it. But, that’s not even my main problem. My problem is that the third act breakup happened because she accused Theo of doing the exact same thing. Lying to her about his job situation. Theo was basically the same with his “I hate that you felt like you had to lie to me,”, but was doing exactly the same. I’m a visual creature. I’m not sure how much shirtless stimulation I can take before I break in some way. That would be catastrophic. […] the fmc. she's the elena to this vampire diaries. she was just fine in like 70% of the book but as much as i understand grief, there were moments where i felt that she's the whiny kind. it was too late until i realised ALL SHE DOES IS CRY. (i'm a firm believer in the fact that if you're doing nothing to make your situation better, the least you could do is not whine)

It didn’t make me as fundamentally sad as Mrs. Nash’s Ashes, but they felt similar-ish. If you’re in your emotional road trip era, they both hit the mark! I also said it in my Mrs. Nash’s Ashes review, but again, the Letters to Juliet vibes were immaculate here as well. The plot setup isn’t even my favorite because I really don’t like people being dead as a major plot point, but the way the story was told was just so good. Again, nothing singularly has me obsessed with the book…it’s just everything…how the story was told, the characters, the vibes…obsessed. The story is perfect, it was giving me 2000s rom com vibes the whole way through and I loved it. Road trip + past academic rival + his grandfather ?? Sign me up! The pressure to remember anything about myself! Most obviously, I write adult contemporary romance novels and my debut, You, with a View just released into the world! When I’m not writing, I love to read, and when I’m not reading, you can find me roaming the Bay Area with my husband and son, listening to my favorite Spotify playlists, and/or thinking about my next meal. My other career is in beauty (yes, you should be wearing SPF all the time, even indoors) and the aisles of Sephora soothe me. Also, iced coffee > hot coffee.

You, With a View is a beautiful book made up of all the quintessential summer vibes. This HS enemies to lovers, forced to road trip together in search of a missed romance and a connection to the past, was at times laugh out loud funny, at other times quite sad, but heartwarming and utterly charming throughout. I am such a fan of High School rivals turned love interests and this book delivered. I did find myself wanting a bit more of them in the past to truly understand how they came so full circle like they did, but I still found this to be a great summer romance read, nonetheless. Two high school enemies must reunite for a road trip inspired by their grandparents’ broken engagement in this electric debut romance. Overview: Two high school enemies must reunite for a road trip inspired by their grandparents’ broken engagement in this electric debut romance. I cannot believe this was Jessica Joyce's debut novel! The writing felt so good, so familiar, and I just couldn't put it down. This isn't out until July, but I already need her next one, after reading a preview at the end of this one😭😂
