If you have read that book then this follows a similar theme, Freddie chats in his trademark way about his opinions on various topics such as Trump, Pandemics and Social Media. But, this last year we’ve all had a moment to reflect, and I’ve had the chance to look back and notice that although there’s been little method in the madness of my life, there has been the occasional common thread. It is filled with anecdotes, observations and the odd opinion all told with Fred’s trademark humour and no-nonsense style. Then, explosively, he lit up the second half of the summer in 2004, lifting spirits at Lord’s with a bat-smashing 142.

I was obviously aware of him before he started presenting Top Gear but it was this show that had me chuckling at his antics with Paddy and Chris. I hope readers have a laugh and a good time and maybe, you know, pick up the odd accidental pearl of wisdom. The only chapter I skipped was the cricket/sport one just out of personal preference as I wouldn’t know what he was on about! His book wasn't what I expected - it wasn't an autobiography and it wasn't the collection of sporting anecdotes that I would normally expect from a book by a former international cricketer. No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins. The storytelling lacks the depth and introspection that could have provided readers with a more profound understanding of the man behind the cricketing legend.

Right, said Fred is a very easy book to read, once you take out the contents and the index etc, it's only 270 pages long. who ,and i mean this in a nice way as i am a big fan of both, Is reminding me more and more as the "new Clarkson" ! The Book of Fred is filled with anecdotes, observations and the odd opinion all told with Fred’s trademark humour and no-nonsense style. The lost form, gain form, Neil Fairbrother helped me then we went for a drink down the pub with Harmison and Rob Key. Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff takes on many different topics in this rambling response to the pandemic and it's limitation on what we can do, where we can go and who we can see. I listened to the audiobook version of this and was a little disappointed when I realised it wasn’t actually Freddie that was going to be doing the narration. In conclusion, "Being Freddie" is a middling memoir that offers cricket fans some insights into Andrew Flintoff's life but ultimately falls short of delivering a truly immersive and introspective narrative. From one of Britain's most-loved national treasures, comes a much-needed Bible of straight-talking honesty and sharp observational humour: following an unprecedented time of collective global insanity, Freddie is ready to impart his effortless charm, wit and wisdom on a wild array of topics. He has written for newspapers, fronted his own radio show and had a hugely successful podcast, Flintoff, Savage and the Ping Pong Guy . To me, however, Flintoff will always be an iconic cricketer and it was for this reason I picked up the book.
