Description

This is an powerful book about spousal abuse in the extreme. While I found the story interesting, I could not fully understand why a woman who is a psychologist did not manage to get away from this man. It alludes to the fact that the British legal system is quite lenient to a man with money and power. I think that had Eve asked for help from the authorities earlier, she might had stood a better chance of getting away from this man. The author writes Eve as a strong woman but I felt that she was just weak. I adored this book!!! Addie is planning her summer getaway with her bestie. But when plans fall through and she needs someone to go with her, none other than her brother’s best friend, Cooper,—who is 10 years older than her—steps up. After a few stops, they land in Ireland and after a drunken night at the pub, they wake up married. With tattooed bands. As Poppy tries to navigate the challenges in her personal and professional life, she starts to unravel a web of deceit and lies that threaten to destroy everything she has worked so hard for. She must confront the truth about her husband’s affair and come to terms with the mistakes she has made in her own life.

Could have been a sweet second chance if not for the fact that while Hero remained celibate and a virgin for the entire 8 year separation, heroine unfortunately did not! She lost her virginity in college and had 2 lovers. Addie Cooper is young, wild, and ready for her European adventure. She’s a free spirit who’s finally taking the leap to explore, but she isn’t confident enough to do it alone. When her best friend has to cancel at the last minute, family friend Cooper who’s she’s only known in passing as her older brother’s best friend is the designated plus one. Cooper is older, reserved, and on the cusp of having his lifelong dream come true. When his dad and Addie’s parents convince him to travel Europe over the summer with Addie, who views as friend adjacent, he gets more than he bargained for in this trip. As we learn about the marriage of Eve and Gregg, we see Gregg is a twisted Psychopath who has controlled and manipulated Eve for many years. The prose is eloquent, the sentences crisp, the dialogue sharp, the poetic description spellbinding, and the twist completely unexpected. A definite five star read for me. A book I will treasure on my top shelf of favourite reads for many years to come. Maddox was the best. Literally such a sweet guy ugh. He’ll gather all the small moments, decorate them on a silver platter and serve it for you to feast on. Hell he’s gonna give you all the spice too 💅✨The Entire Book Makes Clear Braxton And Maddox’s Love For One Another. It Was Fun To Watch Two Soulmates Mend Their Relationships. First half of story is with Hero still hurt & bitter at heroine. Then some scandal with his younger brother forces him to go into a fake relationship with heroine because her douche father causes trouble for him. After a while, they become close again, though heroine always had an "I'll go along with it for now" type of attitude towards him and of course horny thoughts. It’s your typical friends with mutual pining to strangers to fake daters to lovers and it definitely made me hate the friends to lovers trope a lot less. It’s given me hope that it can be done properly. No bc I ADORE both the characters.

This was my second time reading the book and I loved it even more the second time around, the way Hannah writes her characters always makes me speechless. You can always find yourself connecting with at least one character in each book. That was me with Braxton in this one, Our female lead. Who I adore to pieces. Oakley & Ava are adorable, loved them. I really appreciated that there wasn’t a third act breakup. I love when an issue arises, and the couple works through it together. However, Poppy’s life is turned upside down when she discovers that her husband has been having an affair. She is devastated and unsure of what to do next. To make matters worse, she is also struggling with a difficult case at work and is being stalked by a mysterious stranger. Oakley was a SWOON worthy book boyfriend. He was the absolute best. A little birdie told me, we see him again in the next generation series and I. Am. Here. For. That. !! The premise drew me in, and in many ways, it does fulfil its promise. The descriptions of Eve's life with Gregg are detailed and vivid. There's no doubt about his systematic destruction of her. For me, there is too much detail and too many examples of abuse. I don't need to drown in detail to understand.

Cooper and Adalyn I love them so much. They are the couple that surprises each other in the most beautiful ways possible. They are the perfect blend of sweet and spicy and they are adventurous, and caring with one another in different ways. The happiness and love they truly share for each other help them fill in the spaces and end up creating a beautiful life together. 🥹🫶 Five of the most twinkling stars for Miss Hannah Cowan and her writing. This book was one of my most anticipated reads of 2023 and it’s safe to say that it did not disappoint. It gave everything it was supposed to give and more. I was screaming, crying, throwing up, laughing, jumping up and down with excitement. It gave me all the feels, heart palpitations and all the butterflies, every thing wrapped up in this one awesome book. Childhood friends to strangers to lovers is one of my guilty pleasures and Hannah has done it SO SO right. I ATE this up. Read the whole thing in 2 sittings and it wasn’t 1 only because I had to sleep. Maddox and Braxton and their story is so beautifully portrayed, the angst and the frustration of separation of 8 years and then seeing the subtle ways they kept each other alive in their lives even after everything that went down had my heart. I loved every thing about this book and will recommend it to anyone and everyone. Please go read it, that’s all I’m gonna say because I think I found myself a new comfort read. You should 100% read this if you like the following tropes: Overall, “Her Greatest Mistake” is a gripping and intense thriller novel that explores the themes of betrayal, forgiveness, and the consequences of our actions. First of all, this book SHOOK me cause I was not prepared for Cooper White and his mouth🥵 I was for some reason not expecting that at all what the hell😩😅 MAJOR Daddy vibes… i’d do anything for Daddy Cooper👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I admit that it took me a little while to get used to the narration style, which is mainly Eve “talking to” Gregg as she recaps the events that led up to her current situation. It’s an unusual style I’m not usually fond of, but as the story progressed I found that it was befitting this tale of power and abuse and helped to explore the dynamics that drive these characters. Once I got into the story, it carried me with it like a runaway train, depositing me firmly into the midst of troubled minds – that of the abuser and the victim. Fascinating? Yes. Disturbing? Definitely! Some passages evoked an almost visceral response of anger and disgust that made me want do away with Gregg myself. It always reflects the skill of a writer to be able to kindle such sparks in the minds of her readers!Braxton is such a kind, strong & caring person. she’s confident, sassy, independent and knows her worth. I absolutely adored her. she knew what she wanted and was always clear about how she felt. she’s now one of my favorite heroines. I loved reading about her🤍
