Leaves are a plant’s solar panels. Once leaves begin to form on the shoot, the young plant can begin powering its own growth through photosynthesis. In 4 to 6 weeks, your seed will have roots! The roots are usually the first to emerge from the seed—and will appear from the flat end in a few weeks. Then you’ll see a sprout or stem! Look for signs of a small shoot at the pointed end. Tiny leaves will develop and grow on thisshoot. Your favorite fruit or vegetable—or even candy—all came from crops that started as seed. The bed that you sleep in…? Yes, all of the materials come primarily from seed. The grass that you, your kids, your favorite sports team, and your family pet enjoy all grow from seed. Artificial soil-less mixes offer all these desired qualities. The basic ingredients of such mixes are sphagnum peat moss and vermiculite, both of which are generally free of diseases, weed seeds and insects. The individual ingredients are also readily available, easy to handle, lightweight and produce uniform plant growth. You can make your own mix using this recipe: 4 quarts of shredded sphagnum peat moss, 4 quarts of fine-grade vermiculite, 1 tablespoon of superphosphate (optional), and 2 tablespoons of ground limestone. These mixes have little fertility so seedlings must be watered with a diluted fertilizer solution soon after they emerge. Vermiculite Containers Germination and emergence are the first stages of your vegetable seeds’ journey indoors. Keep an eye on the moisture, temperature, and humidity to ensure proper germination conditions. Seedling DevelopmentOptional: As leaves begin to appear, you may want to gently pinch off the leaves (and discard them) to encourage the avocado plant to grow a stronger stem and well-established root system before it focuses onleaves. As more people turn to gardening as a hobby or to grow their own food, they’ve also discovered the rewards of growing plants from seed. It’s easy to become addicted to watching life sprout from a tiny seed that you’ve nurtured yourself. Starting seeds indoors allows you to get a head start on the growing season and to get your hands dirty, even if there’s still snow on the ground. No matter how rotten you feel, there is a seed within you that contains the essence of who you are. I didn’t carry out my usual process when creating a logo or brand, this was the first attempt and I truly believe it was a God given idea. After all, he is the ultimate creator!

In his book Where Our Food Comes From, food writer Gary Nabhan says that while seeds may be in U.S. government banks or an Arctic vault, seeds in isolation cannot maintain the kind of diversity upheld by "vernacular plant breeders." In other words, the long-term vitality of plants depends of the everyday people who grow these plants, allowing them to evolve, and then save seeds for generations. There may be times we feel we are not in control of our thoughts, but we really are. We always have a choice. We can choose the thoughts we give power to.Sow your seeds. Place two to four seeds on the surface of the seed starting mix, and gently press the seeds down so they’re nestled in nicely. Biennials like foxgloves concentrate on growing in the first year, then on flowering and setting seed in the second year before dying. Once the roots are at least 3 inches long, transfer the avocado seed to an 8-inch terracotta or clay pot with drainage holes. Fill the pot with sandy potting soil (a cactus soil can work). Plant the seed in the middle of the spot and ensure the pointed end is facing up! The top of the seed should be level with the soil surface but not cover the stem. Water thoroughly. Place near a brightwindow.
