Description

Until your next Command phase, each time you target an enemy unit with an attack (ranged or melee), if either your unit or the enemy unit is within range of your Acquisition Target, re-roll wound rolls of 1. The final one, and probably the one I like just for the sheer nonsense of the units within, is the Beep Boop – aka Cohort Cybernetica army. You’ll still want a few Skitarii utility pieces around, but you need to be using the Cult Mechanicus for your heavy lifting.

The Battle-shock part of the game-long effect isn’t quite as good as it first looks, because it triggers in your Command Phase so the enemy will un-Shock before it comes to checking objective control, but it can still mess up their defensive stratagem plans, and occasionally allow you to get a very sneaky steal off on Capture Enemy Outpost . For millennia, the Tech-Priests—whose flesh has long been supplanted by steel—have safeguarded humanity’s technological relics, enshrouding their work in sacred rites. Also good clean fun is the improved version of Lethal Dosage , which now just gives Lethal Hits (it’s in the name) for 1CP rather than +1 to Wound for 2CP, and doesn’t have a “no Vehicles” clause any more. Even if you fail every wound roll, your opponent will still be facing an average of 18 saving throws at AP-1 from Lethal hits alone. This author immediately scoured the codex to find something with Deadly Demise d6 or better but couldn’t find any. As an added bonus, this book includes a one-use code to unlock exclusive Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus content in Warhammer 40,000: The App. They bear an array of esoteric weapons, capable of annihilating foes in volleys of irradiated ammunition or incinerating them with torrents of searing energy. It’s not the hit new sound sweeping the 41st Millennium – it’s the tell-tale signs that the dogmatic cults of the Adeptus Mechanicus are marching to war. Pendulin : Quick sidebar here for you die-hard Tech-Priest Manipulus + Omni-Sterilisor stans out there.

One gives a you an extra CP if you are near the objective, another gives that unit a 4+ save while on that objective, the next allows you to reroll hits of 1 that target a unit on that objective and finally the last one allows you to change a single hit, wound or save roll per phase into a 6 while sat on the objective. Boot up a Weapon Part, and you might be rewarded with a Nanoshard Projector that deals [Lethal Hits] , the perfect pistol to replace a macrostubber on your Tech-Priest Dominus . After everything is deployed and you’ve determined who goes first, this enhancement lets you redeploy three units of Skitarii Infantry (including putting them into Strategic Reserves). This detachment feels very CP heavy with lots of overlapping stratagems to cause better shooting, better protection, and then relics to cause even more damage in shooting. As ever, the first half of the book covers the lore, where players can find out just who the Adeptus Mechanicus are, how they operate and loads of information about the various units. Alternatively, it’s genuinely possible that just YOLOing 18 Breachers up the table with Citation up could overwhelm some enemies, especially as they have access to additional durability buffs in this detachment. While this sounds great, those unit restrictions mean almost all the options are with strength 3 or strength 4 attacks. This is really boosted by the fact that in a lot of cases with Detachments you’ll be leaning into different makeups of army, giving you lots of differing building blocks in how you assemble your force. The same is true of Baleful Halo , which provides -1 to wound against incoming attacks in the Fight Phase for non-vehicles, and again can bounce from Battleline to non-Battleline.
