Essie comes from a line of women who, shortly after giving birth, lose their husbands. When she starts hearing voices and noises in her house, she starts to believe the curse could be real. This is one of the most difficult books, I have ever read, it is heartbroken. I loved the main character, Alex Lake. She is a social worker, works with Child Protection, she is a hard worker and she will do everything to protect the children in her caseload.

While this made for TV film is not gratuitous and with film that looks like it was taken on a potato, the performance from Brooke Kinsella in the lead role is compelling with a message that is delivered in a direct and painful way that leaves very little to the imagination.Meeting with the family, Alex’s instincts where telling her that the child is in danger, but how is she going to prove it? Will she be able to save the child or would be too late?

I surprised even myself with the high rating I gave "No Child of Mine" , but the way it managed to get under my skin was no less surprising to me. It's definitely a book that if you give it a chance, you can't go wrong. Just do not expect action in it, let the emotions lead you. But let me tell you, it isn't the ending that's sad. Nor was it sad that I finished this book. It was the process of this whole story that was downright heartbreaking. I have never been so glad about coming to an end of a book, in a good way. I'm not sad because I finished it. On the contrary, I felt that the ending was so perfect, that no other endings would end this book off well than this. Honestly.To me, Essie's concerns and emotional struggle was 100% believable. She was a woman who had a plan for her future, who had sacrificed to reach her goals, and so close to the finish line had everything up-ended while her husband still got to live his dream.
