Crystal Forest is a lollipop loop trail. From the parking lot, you’ll walk for a short distance before the trail turns into a loop. Since it is a loop, you can go either direction first. The right side of the trail is full of colorful mesmerizing petrified wood chunks and logs. On the other hand, the left side gives you a glimpse of the badlands and the iconic blue and purple color of Blue Mesa. There is a slight uphill halfway through. We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time. Through the unknown, remembered gate When the last of earth left to discover Is that which was the beginning; At the source of the longest river The voice of the hidden waterfall And the children in the apple-tree Not known, because not looked for But heard, half-heard, in the stillness Between two waves of the sea.” Nature is painting for us, day after day, pictures of infinite beauty if only we have the eyes to see them.”Behind the museum is s short .4 mile paved loop through Giant Logs. We are all naturally seekers of wonders. We travel far to see the majesty of old ruins, the venerable forms of the hoary mountains, great waterfalls, and galleries of art. And yet the world’s wonder is all around us; the wonder of setting suns, and evening stars, of the magic spring-time, the blossoming of the trees, the strange transformations of the moth.” Keep collections to yourself or inspire other shoppers!
