I’ll never be good enough for you, I know that. But I’m no good without you, and if that makes me a selfish bastard for wanting you as badly as I do then so be it because I can’t live a life that doesn’t have you in it.” Jasmine did trust easily, and look where it had gotten her. She could see now it was a direct response to feeling ignored and misunderstood by her parents and siblings. It was why she’d readily given her heart to every semi-attractive man who’d even shown her an ounce of attention. She sought her parents’ love by securing romantic relationships, because, in her family, that was what made you a success. But that wasn’t healthy. And trust wasn’t meant to be given in one lump sum. It was earned, little by little.” Complicated family dynamics, guilt and grief, enduring female friendships, and, of course, hilarity. And a cat named Colin Fur. Stunningly portrays the happiness of a new family as it builds to a profoundly emotional conclusion. This is an unforgettable love story that is both hopeless and heartwarming. A love tale was created by James Patterson, a gripping and deeply touching book about family, loss, new love, and hope. Anyone who’s read a rom-com-y type book like this knows where it ends up, but I found Laurie so relatable and lovely, and I appreciated how Laurie was willing to admit she was wrong about Jamie once she got to know him. There’s even a full-on makeover scene that is so realistic after a breakup, and would be amazing to watch if this were to be adapted to a movie.

The one man she cannot have is him. When Hardy departs from town to carry out his plans, Liberty is left to care for her infant sister alone. Soon after, Liberty finds herself enchanted by a wealthy businessman—a “Sugar Daddy,” perhaps. But the connection is deeper than first appears, as Liberty starts to learn things about her own family’s past.

Need Help?

We have always steady, hard-worker, tough, mostly smart business woman who hates the guts of the Alpha male but finally she accepts the offer (because of a carrier leverage or a heartbreak or boredom, choose one of them) White shouldn’t be the default any more than straight should be the default. There shouldn’t even be a default.” Jamie is a bit younger than Laurie and up for partner of their firm. The problem is, he's a bit of a ladies man and not taken seriously. He has a solution for that... dating Laurie. She can make him look good to the partners, and he can make her ex jealous. It's a win-win, right? TL;DR: A lovely and engaging British rom-com. While somewhat predictable, the journey is super fun and the characters are relatable.

Logan shot to his feet. “I can’t keep quiet anymore. You all are stupid idiots if you think that. Don’t you know her? Don’t you know Mason? My god, I’m embarrassed to call you ass-dults!” We will always be something. You might move on and marry someone else, have his children and get your happily ever after, but you will never be completely done with me.” For a rebellious girl like Violet, everything about the patriarchy is deadly. If she wants to survive, she must abide by the rules. But Violet has never been particularly good at following the rules. Violet is forced to give up many pleasures in the forbidden realm, including forbidden love, when she is plunged into greater peril than she could have ever imagined. Only the fittest survive in a world where gender is segregated. When Laurie and Jamie started fake dating, I was so here for it. They became friends and I loved how vulnerable they were with each other and how they grew to really appreciate each other. It was so cute how Laurie had this growing crush on Jamie but didn't know what to do about it. And did I mention this book was British? It definitely has the British quirk that I love in my British books.

Other things I liked was Laurie and her mum's relationship growth, the banter between Jamie and Laurie, but also between Laurie and her best friend Emily! I loved their friendship, it was everything. I also liked Nadia, and her blunt take on things! Another great friendship was with Bharet in Laurie's office. The characters were all realistic and flawed, and I liked that. This book was the fluffy read that my heart needed! For her pals, Kristen Petersen will go to any length, and she has no place in her life for guys who just don’t get her. She also doesn’t do drama. She is also concealing the fact that she must have medical treatment that will prevent her from becoming a mother. The hot and intensely romantic worldwide bestselling book served as the basis for the popular film. Laura Biel and her partner are having the time of their lives in stunning Sicily. She is abducted on the second day of their journey, which also happens to be her 29th birthday. The stunningly gorgeous, youthful Don Massimo Torricelli, leader of a major Sicilian crime family, is the person responsible for her kidnapping, and he is desperate to get his hands on her at any cost. Massimo has good intentions. An identical apparition to Laura appeared before his eyes during an initial attempt on his life. He makes the commitment to find the woman in his vision and claim her as his own after escaping the onslaught. The trouble with liars, Laurie had decided from much research in the professional field, is they always thought everyone else was less smart than them.” Once again McFarlane writing combines laugh-out-loud moments with an insightful narrative that taps into deep-seated issues. Blending humour and realism McFarlane's story is as witty as it is topical.

I only made it a quarter of the way though. I am a voracious reader and wanted to like this. But the narrator was hard to listen to from the start. She did not differentiate between characters making it hard to tell who was who. Good fiction narrators don’t just read the book, which is what she did- making it bland and boring. Her emotions rarely changed and she didn’t read the characters like they were written. For example, when the character is to have spoken in a forced whisper, she read it in full voice just as loud as the rest of the narration. While her accent was a little hard to listen to, it was her invariability that made it so hard on the ears. Thus the performance was one note and detracted from the text. keep a close eye on the worst things that happened to you, they could turn out to be a doorway, a route to someplace else entirely, a map you couldn’t yet read.” People really are like house with vast rooms and tiny windows. And maybe it’s a good thing, the way we never stop surprising each other.”Overall, a very enjoyable, fun read and I love the ending ... and...it happens at Christmas! Awwww. So appropriate to the time of year leaving the reader with a real sense of satisfaction and happiness. It is well written, it’s smart, keeps you interested throughout, it entertains and takes you through a range of emotions - what more can you ask for?! Laurie's workplace was also written well I thought. it was quite a toxic, gossipy place, almost like living in a goldfish bowl, and I've definitely worked in a few places with a similar atmosphere! Poor Laurie not only had her personal life come crashing down, but then had to deal with her whole office talking about it! Not to mention how badass she was as a woman working in a mostly white male industry, dealing with workplace sexism! Conor Edwards frequently attends Greek Row parties and sleeps in sorority dorms. He is the person you fall for before realizing that men like him don’t care about women like me. But Mr. Popular surprises me by letting me take him upstairs to make it look like we’re getting busy instead of laughing in my face.
