Salivix® Spray Dry Mouth Spray - Salivix® Spray

While it is not a ‘disease’, xerostomia may be a symptom of various medical conditions, a side effect of a radiation to the head and neck, or a side effect of a wide variety of medications. While it is rarely the sign of anything serious, dry mouth can be very unpleasant and uncomfortable for those who suffer from it. Some cancer chemotherapeutic drugs can also change the composition and flow of saliva, which may also result in dry mouth. Please note: The option you've selected does not come with the refill needles required to use your Saxenda pen. There are a number of conditions that can cause xerostomia, with the most common disease being Sjögren’s Syndrome, a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease that occurs predominantly in people aged 40-60, with women accounting for about 90% of cases. The oral spray contains xylitol and fluoride, which protects against tooth decay, whilst the peppermint flavour promotes fresh breath.

The pastilles are sugar-free and containcalcium lactate and sodium phosphate for active remineralisation of the teeth and which act as buffers to the acidity of the product. Xerostomia is the most common adverse effect associated with radiation therapy to the head and neck. Generally, people can treat episodes of dry mouth by drinking plenty of water, sucking on ice cubes or ice lollies, or chewing sugar-free gum to create more saliva in the mouth. Slowly suck on one Salivix pastille to stimulate saliva production when secretion is impaired and gland is still present. Salivix Dry Mouth Pastilles are designed to help to ease a dry mouth, by stimulating your salivary gland and provide hydration when you need it most. The NICE Clinical Knowledge Summaries (CKS) site is only available to users in the UK, Crown Dependencies and British Overseas Territories.

The pastilles are sugar free and contain calcium lactate and sodium phosphate which act as buffers to protect against tooth erosion. Xerostomia is a common complaint found often among older adults, affecting approximately 20% of the elderly population.

However, if these don’t help, you should speak to your GP or pharmacist who can suggest additional treatments to help keep your mouth moist. When you suck on a pastille, this encourages your body to produce the saliva it would need to help you digest your food, hydrating your mouth naturally.
