Description

Our best-selling model for over 100 years, the B17 is the ideal bicycle saddle for commuting, gravel, road cycling and touring + trekking use. It looks really great on the bike and will no doubt last longer than the gel filled Italian elastomer thing that fell apart. The Brooks B17 saddle was originally launched sometime in the mid 1890s – it’s not been possible to establish the exact year.

A supremely comfortable saddle thanks to its flexible, hammock-like, performance that moves with every pedal stroke, the B17 is a bike seat designed for the 60° angled riding position. We are able to ship smaller goods (no bikes, frames, rims, wheels) to Europe/North America/Australasia; please ask us about carriage costs. Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary.Ich wollte nach meinem C17 einen härteren Sattel, aber mit diesen Nachteilen muß ich wohl doch wieder auf einen Sportsattel wechseln. Brooks has been making saddles in England for over 100 years, so you can be sure you’re getting expert engineering and craftsmanship with our Brooks Female Saddle.

But be careful to make sure that the leather does not sag too low, as this will cause it to contact the metal structure and could lead to saddle failure, not to mention being uncomfortable, as you could be sitting on the upper rails of some models or even the seat post itself. Sharing the same leather tops of the B17 models, they combine the comfort of these popular models with the extra suspension granted by two rear springs.New leather is tough because of the numerous treatments of the tanning process, as well as the moulding process done at our factory. Brooks have been making saddles in England for well over 100 years and this B17 saddle is the perfect complement to your Brompton bike. The leather is also a naturally breathable material and moulds to the unique shape of the rider for a more comfortable ride. The badges on the rear have changed too – early examples had a lovely fretted badge and in the 1960s there was even a period when no rear badge was fitted.

In 1954/5 the badge was changed to a parallelogram shape with Brooks in the centre and the model name at the bottom.

First introduced in the 1890s, the B17 has survived virtually unchanged, and has firmly established itself as the saddle of choice for long distance cyclists. It’s the ideal bike saddle for all cycling adventures including commuting, gravel cycling, road cycling as well as touring and trekking use. World War II saw a drastic reduction in the range to the basic models and it was not until 1949 that a wider range of models was offered.
