Description

Tatooine’s place in Star Wars history begins at the beginning with Luke Skywalker. This is where Luke worked on the farm and lived with his aunt and uncle, it’s the planet he left behind to fight The Empire. This is also where Obi-Wan Kenobi was hiding out away from Darth Vadar. Children will love teaming up with The Mandalorian and a Tusken Raider for desert missions with this LEGO® Star Wars™ Trouble on Tatooine set (75299). It features The Mandalorian’s speeder bike with a LEGO minifigure seat and saddlebag for the Child to sit in, plus a buildable Tusken hut and a new-for-January-2021, missile-shooting ballista for the Tusken Raider. And that show is the most recent addition to the Star Wars franchise. Tatooine is where Boba Fett resides as Daimyo, taking over the crime syndicate after Fortuna and residing in the former palace of Jabba the Hutt. That palace is also where Princess/General Leia was once held captive, where Han Solo and Luke Skywalker went to rescue her, and where Boba Fett was swallowed by the sarlacc (which we know he escaped from eventually) in the same mission. Nevertheless, the interior does include reasonable detail. I like the simple fire which can be disconnected from the hut very easily and the Technic pillar at the centre of the model looks nice, despite only actually supporting a reddish brown 2x2 round plate with four vertical bars which is intended to resemble the uppermost tips of the internal frame.

Early speeder bikes used the 3-wheeler body without the front forks or wheels, which did provide something that they could straddle. That part appears to be retired now, though. There are two different styles of motorcycle chassis that could maybe be cobbled into a speederbike, and there’s always the horse saddle. I don’t really see them making a dedicated speederbike seat, though they could get plenty of use out of it if they did. The angled outriggers seem appropriately narrow but feel robust and I like the steering vanes that correspond with the onscreen vehicle. Furthermore, the proportions between this forward assembly and the seating section look fantastic. I love the pivoting handgrips which are linked with the outriggers and the 2x2 dish element between them appears authentic too. The Power of the Dark Side · Treasury: The Original Trilogy · 5-Minute Star Wars Stories · The Chewbacca Story The eponymous Mandalorian has appeared in several sets since the series was launched and that minifigure was excellent. However, 75299 Trouble on Tatooine yields another impressive minifigure, including printed arms and superb Beskar armour.

The Completed Model

Unfortunately, the pearl silver helmet does contrast with the metallic silver printing so seems slightly odd and I think the shaping of the visor could also have been improved. Nevertheless, the dark bluish grey cape matches the onscreen character and his most remarkable feature is probably the printed arms! These rarely appear within the Star Wars theme but were definitely appropriate here. Moving away from retired products, let’s talk about Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder. This is a great option for Star Wars fans looking to beef up their Tatooine collection and unlike the two sets above, it isn’t retired.

Trouble on Tatooine inspired considerable excitement upon its announcement and was deserving of such attention in my opinion. Of course, the Mandalorian himself is definitely the outstanding feature of this set, featuring exhaustive detail that corresponds precisely with the onscreen character and even including printed arms! They rarely appear within the Star Wars theme and I appreciate their presence in a smaller set. As the only play set in LEGO’s current 2021 Star Wars lineup, the Trouble on Tatooine kit delivers on just about everything you’d want from it. The theming is consistent all-around and assembles some pretty interesting models that offer a complete scope over the episode of The Mandalorian that inspired it.So not that you have a little window into why Tatooine is iconic, let’s talk about this LEGO set! The Trouble on Tatooine LEGO Set This is an article breaking down this smaller, but super cool set by LEGO. Let’s talk more about why it’s cool, where it stands to improve, and whether or not it’s worth your time and money. Bottom Line Up Front Following his acquisition of the mysterious Child, The Mandalorian dons magnificent Beskar armour which provides tremendous protection. This minifigure has been hotly anticipated and looks absolutely spectacular, featuring metallic silver decoration across both sides of the torso and the legs. I appreciate the consistency between these designs and those on the previous minifigure depicting Din Djarin.
