They all went through various character developments through the progress of the book. I loved that they weren’t one-dimensional and I what I loved the most was the bond and love they shared with one another. The Merry Thieves with Oscar – Matthew’s Dog The whole ending with Belial possessing James and James ending it with putting Cortana through his heart was very predictable. Maybe a little bit too predictable. Oh boy did this book make me feel many things. The way my thoughts on some stuff did a huge flip... and lets just say mostly bad. The London Elclave starts to evacuate to Idris, but Alastar, Thomas, Anna, Ari, Cordila, Jesse, Lucie, and Grace all manage to sneak away from the Enclave and stay behind in London to try to save Matthew and James. Matthew as a character had so much potential! He could have been so good. But alas it was not meant to be. James and Matthew's friendship was butchered. They spent the whole book and the series fighting about Cordelia. Jem and Will would never do this. They must be so ashamed.

On another note, Lucie realizes that her weird ghost voices she hears when she is making out with Jesse is actually the deep ghostie realm. i liked grace’s development in this, and while i’m still not her biggest fan, i get why she is the way she is — and her guilt was done so realistically imo. i like the way she was the one who told cordelia about her manipulating james into feeling “things” for her, cause i know james would’ve never told cordelia himself and they’d always be in that limbo state, with cordelia never being able to trust james, had grace not done that — so i love her a little only for that. and i’m sad that she’s never gonna know the love of christopher either anymore 😔 i know a lot of people would’ve preferred her staying the villain but idk, i liked the added complexity to her character and her motivations just made sense. so i didn’t exactly like her but i don’t hate her either, anymore. (i am in no way saying i condoned what she did to james cause that was terrible — but i got why she did.)
