Like I mentioned up above in the video section, the below audio score and critical comments of such are based solely upon my viewing of Lionsgate’s 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray presentation of American Psycho. There’s no real rhyme or reason for his behaviors nor how he decides who lives and dies (not even dogs are safe).

You’re either going to appreciate it and enjoy it for what it is or you’re going to outright hate it for its rude depictions, mannerisms and ultimately actions. All in all, a surprising film which shows social irregularities and problems that afflicted a generation and how one man chooses to deal them. Blu-ray A Uncut Version America- Lions Gate Home Entertainment - No cuts – Unrated version (102:02). The Bold New Take on The Beloved Classic “The Color Purple” Debuts on 4K, Blu-ray and DVD March 12th! In 1987, twentysomething Wall Street broker Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale) seems to have it all: he is handsome, successful and engaged to the beautiful Evelyn (Reese Witherspoon). The Metropolitan disc kept the featurette, trailers and interviews, as well as dug up a bunch more of those interview clips, divided into arbitrary categories like "My Life" and "Newspaper Killer.

For the film's Blu-ray debut, Lionsgate is pulling out the unrated version only, utilizing the same master as the 2005 special edition release. There are a few scenes where black levels aren't quite up to snuff, they're a tad on the brown side, and there are a few soft scenes that still stick out but overall, it's a notable improvement. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.Basing a novel on a monster is nothing new, of course (after all, Thomas Harris has made a respectable cottage industry out of it with the Hannibal Lecter series). It was co-written and directed by Mary Harron, based on Bret Easton Ellis’ 1991 novel of the same name. Just don't make the mistake of grabbing a copy of American Psycho 2, you need that in your life about as much as Paul Allen needs an ax. It's only as the years moved on and I saw people I knew drift towards that sort of material-centric life where the places you ate, drank, and the labels you wore once then threw out were most important that I started to actually get this film.

What's fascinating about both, though, is how the two female filmmakers were greeted for tackling a book so controversial for its alleged misogyny. Harron's slightly more playful treatment of the darker source material makes it infinitely more accessible, still committing to the bloody depravities of its protagonist, but fashioning a strangely intriguing tale about a guy who is curiously - at least vaguely - aware of his behaviour and maybe even occasionally wants to stop it (his relationship with his secretary being a prime example). I always appreciated that they nailed the look of the film, like Less Than Zero, and the performances.

It took years to eventually trickle down to Mary Hannon, who'd previously directed the excellent I Shot Andy Warhol, and Christian Bale right off of Velvet Goldmine and a small role in the Kevin Kline version of A Midsummer Night's Dream. the "clean" visual style, and detail is also fairly strong, since the film is generally quite brightly lit. However, there are enough folks like me who find the good in black comedies like these and that’s why whether its uncut version or R-rated one American Psycho is very much a bonafide living, breathing cult classic thriller. Use the thumbs up and thumbs down icons to agree or disagree that the title is similar to American Psycho.
