Description

Thank you all for your advice, I have tried to do what I can to resolve the heating issues I have been having. So just to paint the picture I will layout the mistakes I have made as somethings that should have been obvious simply wasn’t to me. For large or heavily fouled commercial systems, the cleaning period may have to be extended and the cleaning temperature elevated.

A few examples of the kind of debris that can be found in new systems include copper swarf, flux residues, casting sands and rust. Other contaminants can include greases and stamping oils used in the manufacturing process, sometimes applied excessively. When introduced into a central heating system, these materials can cause problems such as corrosion. To clean an existing system in accordance with BS7593 it is strongly recommended that Sentinel X800 Jetflo is used with power flushing equipment which will provide a more rapid and effective clean. In such case, Sentinel X800 Jetflo will be administered via the power flushing equipment (follow equipment manufacturer'gs instructions). Alternatively, Sentinel X800 Jetflo should be circulated, preferably at normal operating temperature, with all valves open and the pump turned to maximum flow for a minimum period of 1 hour or until satisfactory performance is restored. Why? Removes potentially damaging contaminants and restores system effectiveness, reducing future breakdowns and increasing system life. Unrivalled chemical technology reduces circulation time to just 1 hour. The circulation pump of the system can be used to circulate the cleaning solution; however equipment which provides a more rapid circulation can provide a more effective clean. When using an external cleaning rig, the product can be dosed directly to the buffer tank of the rig (follow equipment manufacturer’s instructions).

Our Vortex500 works in exactly the same way as the Vortex300, adding a larger collection capacity and the ability to be installed on larger pipework too, making it ideal for heat pump systems. After cleaning, the system should be drained and flushed until the water runs clear. On refilling, the system should be treated with Sentinel X100 Inhibitor or Sentinel X500 Inhibited Antifreeze.

The solution

The Sentinel – X800 is a must-have for anyone with a central heating system. Whether you are a homeowner, a property manager, or a business owner, this product will revolutionize the way you maintain your heating system. By ensuring the optimal performance and efficiency of your central heating system, the Sentinel – X800 provides comfort and peace of mind to everyone who relies on it for warmth. Pros and Cons Apply to: Remove residual flux, grease, oil and manufacturing & installation debris in systems under six months old How does it work? Contains a specialised dispersant to penetrate and lift sludge. Holds sludge in suspension ready for flushing. I then opened all of the thermostatic valves on all 7 radiators, turned on the boiler by the mains and turned the temperature up to 25 degrees by the thermostat

I located the drain valve just outside the property and opened it to drain the central heating system - left it for about an hour I read online that I should have open the bleed valves a bit whilst draining the system. So with this new information I started bleeding the radiators downstairs starting with the one closet to the boiler, which caused more water to come out of the drain valve The horizontal, front facing filter is designed to be fitted in the most restrictive of spaces whilst delivering fantastic debris capture. To clean an older system in accordance with BS 7593, this product should be circulated (preferably at normal operating temperature, with all valves open and the pump turned to maximum flow) for a minimum period of 2 hours or until satisfactory performance is restored. Use in conjunction with a powerflushing device to achieve a more rapid clean. Ideally, on the return pipe leading to a boiler. This is to stop debris entering the boiler and damaging it.Why?A build-up of magnetite sludge and corrosion debris can cause cold spots in radiators and uneven heat distribution. Cleaning an old system before8 installing a new component such as a boiler or circulation pump prolongs the effective life of the new component reducing maintenance and replacement costs. It is recommended to use the Sentinel – X800 at least once a year for optimal system maintenance. However, the frequency may vary depending on the specific needs of your central heating system. In this scenario, the system may benefit from a manual flush using with X300. The system I’m dealing with is older than 6 months
