Even though she didn’t have a good relationship with her parents, it was nice to see Evie find her chosen family. I don’t know, one day I just woke up and realized I was done trying to trick myself into thinking I wanted anyone other than Bree. I've no knowledge about service dogs prior to this book and I watched so many videos and it's just beautiful. Anyways, I just decided that if I’m never going to be good enough for them, I might as well have them be disappointed in me for doing something I love rather than living a life that makes me feel like crap. Evie is such a manic pixie dream girl that she would be impossible to like, but the writing is so genuinely funny that I liked her despite that and gave it a pass. There are also a lot of really good one-liners and quotes and so many food references (which, if you know me, you know these things also make me extremely happy). A lot has changed over the years as she now runs and owns a popular bakery in town and plans to show him just how successful she is. The show did it with much more depth, though, which is really saying something, because that show is fluff with clever dialogue.
