Even though she didn’t have a good relationship with her parents, it was nice to see Evie find her chosen family. I don’t know, one day I just woke up and realized I was done trying to trick myself into thinking I wanted anyone other than Bree. The one with her nose always in a book because she prefers worlds where she doesn’t have to interact with other humans.

Jake is reluctant to let Evie into their lives for many reasons, he’s worried about getting Sam a service dog, and worried for himself because Evie could be all too easy to fall for. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. One thing that was a little annoying about this book was that during the last act there was miscommunication. It doesn’t take long for Jacob to be convinced that Evie, and her magical, woodland-green eyes, might just be the best thing for him and his daughter. His only real fault was a tendency to say rude things to Evie in the first few chapters out of defensiveness. It is possible to go from fantasizing about kissing someone to wishing they would be run over by a truck in a matter of two minutes. She is independent, down to earth despite being born in a super-rich family, treats everyone with love and respect and have a positive outlook in life.

I've no knowledge about service dogs prior to this book and I watched so many videos and it's just beautiful. Anyways, I just decided that if I’m never going to be good enough for them, I might as well have them be disappointed in me for doing something I love rather than living a life that makes me feel like crap. Evie is such a manic pixie dream girl that she would be impossible to like, but the writing is so genuinely funny that I liked her despite that and gave it a pass. As Evie spends more time with Jacob and helps Sam find her perfect match with a lovable golden retriever named Daisy, she starts longing for something she’s never had before—a loving family. Evie Jones has dedicated her life and very limited funds working for Southern Service Paws, the company that matched her with the love of her life: Charlie, a service-dog trained to assist with her epilepsy. She mentions her therapist but she never actually GOES to therapy in the book, partly because it all seems to occur over maybe a two or three week period of time. I love that she was confident, even coming from a difficult home environment (and while we’re on the subject, how can people be so awful as her parents? Although his ten-year-old daughter, Sam, was recently diagnosed with epilepsy, the newly single dad had no idea she set him up for an initial client meeting with Evie.

To help people like her, she works in a Service dog training facility where she trains and matches the people with a dog and she's so good at that. Sarah Adams is the New York Times bestselling author of The Cheat Sheet, When in Rome, and Practice Makes Perfect. This is the 30th book, but considering Alex has survived "Kill Alex Cross" before, chances are he survives this one. Your ability to shoulder everything, to give 200% of yourself all the time, to be perfect at everything you attempt…these are not the attributes that make you a valuable human being. For Jacob, falling in love with Evie is the last thing he should be doing, but love has a way of finding those who need it most.Having been raised in the American south, she has a love for warm days, her family and making people smile. As if being a single parent wasn't tough enough, Jake also runs his own business and to top it off he's navigating the terrifying waters of his 10 year-old daughter, Sam's epilepsy. Just like her other books, I loved the story and the characters and this book is equal fun and cute.

There are also a lot of really good one-liners and quotes and so many food references (which, if you know me, you know these things also make me extremely happy). A lot has changed over the years as she now runs and owns a popular bakery in town and plans to show him just how successful she is. The show did it with much more depth, though, which is really saying something, because that show is fluff with clever dialogue. But maybe if my husband and I could have a relationship like she and her husband did, it will make up for it.She never once even confronts him about how he treated her, just does little soap opera comebacks that are all bark and no bite. Jake is the kind of dad who reads Twilight just because his daughter wants to read it and watches Gilmore girls.
