At each turn, player 1 will select the one die, player 2 will select the second and third die and finally player 1 will take the remaining die. Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands) may take longer to reach you.

Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of places where you can intervene to make your situation less bad, but there’s not always a “good” decision, and that’s disappointing. You can check out their podcasts at We're Not Wizards, their videos at We're Not Wizards Youtube Channel or vist the We're Not Wizards Blog for their written work. That’s certainly the reason it was voted ‘Best New Dice Game’ by the judges at the 2020 UK Games Expo. We do this using a variety of digital marketing networks and exchanges, advertising technologies like web beacons, pixels and cookies, in addition to technology offered by third parties such as Facebook pixel's custom audience feature. One of the dice must be placed next to a matching coat of arms, and if a die contains an X symbol, it’s marked off in the circle on the space where the die is being recorded. This game took the ages-old dominoes mechanic and created an engaging family title that has already seen its fair share of expansions and spinoffs. So, if you had 5 coat of arms all connected orthogonally, and 3 Xs marked off on them, that area would be worth 15 points.

We’re happy to report that this core element of placing dominoes in personal kingdoms is alive and well in Kingdomino Duel. This led to some great decisions to make in the game where it wasn’t always obvious which are the best dice to take. We've not had the pleasure of trying Queendomino to date, but I've heard that its like its sibling, but with strategic additions, and this concerned me as to whether it would be as accessible. I still recommend the original over the others in the series because it captured the perfect balance of light rules overhead, thinky decisions, quick play time, and lovely aesthetics. Score each domain individually and then add up the total for all of your domains, plus add in any bonus points if you have the relevant special wizard power. Most of which are simply because, IMO, Duel suffers greatly when compared to the original Kingdomino. Kingdomino Duel replaces the tiles with dice, but interesting keeps the tile laying mechanic, as you have to combine the faces of the two dice you roll into one “tile” which you draw onto your sheet. Kingdomino Duel is a standalone game that preserves the essence of the acclaimed original Kingdomino. The cute tiles are replaced with coat of arms so the overall presentation of the game is a bit less than Kingdomino, but it makes up for that in strategy and function. Any coat of arms that don’t have an X, allow a player to cross off a box on the spellbook sheet in the matching row. It does, however, keep things fair and interesting by preventing the start player from grabbing all the “best” dice. After players have marked their dominoes in their kingdom as well as marking spaces in the Spellbook, another turn begins.

The rules are clear and concise, but like I said previously, you will have a better grasp of the concept if you have played Kingdomino. If there are crosses on the die, fill in the circles on the space with the appropriate number of crosses. Choosing a coat of arms and scoring 3 points for each different domain of that type at the end of the game. You’ll want to plan ahead, but you’ll also be at the whim of the dice rolls in which coat of arms will appear later. Kingdomino Duel is a dedicated two-player game based on the bigger box tile laying games, Kingdomino and Queendomino. The others are fine games, but the original was lightning in a bottle and no amount of futzing with the formula can replicate that. It follows the previous rules, in that the marks need to be alongside each other, and can only be adjacent to either the castle in the middle of your page, or a similar symbol from a previously marked square.
