Description

Arlene apparently never knew her sister despite the fact the two were twins. This should be very impossible as there was no way Arlene could not have seen her sister during their youth. However, it could be implied Arlene's sister was put up for adoption or placed in foster care which would likely be the reason Arlene never knew her. However, it can be also argued that Arlene never had a twin and that her 'twin' only pretended to be her long-lost sister and even used makeup to mimic her appearance, and that she wrote 'Gemini' on the family records. The fact that the gang finds abandoned cliff dwellings (being used a hide-out by the villains) gives a hint as to this episode's setting: somewhere in the Southwestern U.S. The witch's sign (also referred to as "Mark of Mormal") is a real-life alchemical symbol for sulfur, also known as the Leviathan Cross in the occult. The Pineapple Parlor is conspicuously empty of other customers, despite there being one other car outside besides the Mystery Machine (although this could possibly be a staff vehicle). After Fred takes note of the symbol imprinted on Milissa's grave, the camera pans to Shaggy and Scooby, who were last running into the cemetery after Fred, Daphne, and Velma. However, there are two things that weren't there before. First, Scooby is holding a broom, which isn't seen until now, and the second is Gar, the cemetery's caretaker, who has seemingly appeared out of nowhere.

He and his boss wanted to scare people away so they wouldn't discover their pearl poaching operation. He posed as the Witch Doctor at the luau to warn people to stay away and fabricate an alibi for Simms. He then posed as Mano Tiki Tia while Simms took over as the Witch Doctor. Shaggy puts a twist on the " Scooby-Doo, where are you?" catchphrase (which he had already said beforehand) by instead asking rhetorically, "Scooby-Doo, where were you?" when he finds him hiding in a drum case. This is the second episode to use coloured screen transitions, after the previous episode, Haunted House Hang-Up.

As the gang stood on the porch after arriving at Arlene's house, Daphne's tights are missing in the group shot. It's unknown why Scooby was roaming in the middle of the neighborhood by himself without the rest of the gang. He doesn't do that again. It's possible like the SDMI Scooby said about walking himself, as revealed in The Man in the Mirror, that this Scooby also does the same. It is unknown how Simms and his henchman made their skin look dark while disguised as the Witch Doctor. However, it's possible that they were wearing gloves and feet-like shoes. This is the first known time Daphne is kidnapped by the monster; excluding her imprisonment in Hassle in the Castle.

This is the second episode, after Decoy for a Dognapper, to a have a witch doctor as the primary villain. What century do the townsfolk think they are living in? Their behavior, speech, and mannerisms were greatly exaggerated to resemble real 17th-century Puritans. The Witch Doctor wears a pink and orange robe and a Hawaiian voodoo witch doctor mask. He is dark-skinned despite John Simms and his henchman being white. He carries a staff with a skull on top of it. He also has decorative leaves around his ankles. When Scooby looks at Shaggy trying to pull the lever, his dog collar is miscoloured like his regular one. (A bit of his body below his collar is also missing so it looks like his head is floating.) When he then reacts to helping Shaggy, the new dog collar is completely in blue. Shaggy describes a plethora of different food stashed, all from cans that simply say "Dog Food". Scooby calls it "Scooby food", which considering this is the kind of food he eats, he's not wrong. Shaggy then goes ahead and makes a large sandwich out of the contents he had just described, seemingly from the dog food cans, so clearly it's not exactly dog food to begin with. Although, there is a scene of him making his four-tier sandwich out of human food. It would've made more sense to just point out both. A green box with the words "Dog Food" was already seen before on top of the dog cages.
