Description

Then we are on the brink of WWII in England and the true story behind this letter and how it came to be unravels. The author flits us between today and yesteryear seamlessly, it left me wanting to know what was next with both scenarios. A letter which caused the death of one child, and the saving grace for another. When the two storylines connect, it is one of the most powerful reunions. Ordinary women who overcome extraordinary heartache. A beautiful poignant ending.

Billy Stirling knows he has been a fool, but hopes he can put things right. On 4th September 1939 he sits down to write the letter he hopes will change his future. It does – in more ways than he can ever imagine… How well do you feel the author depicted the horrors of the war in Italy and the treatment of Italians living in Britain at that time? What do you consider to be the major themes of The Secret and how are they explored? Which theme stood out particularly strongly? Kathryn Hughes is a fiction author known for her best-selling novel, The Letter. Other outstanding works by this author include The Secret and The Key. Hughes was born in Manchester and married in Canada. Together with her husband, she ran a business for close to there decades. During this period, she was also raising her children and traveling to Singapore, India, South Africa, among other parts of the world. She then decided to concentrate her efforts on writing. Her debut novel, The Letter, was published in 2013. This truly is a wonderful book, I found it to be very deep and beautifully written and it is one book that I think will stay with me for a long time. I really wanted to love it – it’s the kind of story I usually adore – but it never really engaged me emotionally. The characters were too stereotypical for meto ever fully believe in them – angels or devils, and very littlein-between. Some of the plot twists were signalled in neon letters before they happened, and then unfolded so desperately slowly that I really just wanted to move on and found myself skipping chunks. There was an awful lot of telling rather than showing, sometimes with quite lengthy bits of rather unrealistic dialogue where people seemed to tell each other their life stories. And on top of that, there were frequent recaps in the dialogue of things that hadn’t happened long before – I foundmyself thinking “I know, I know – just move on!”. The Kathryn Hughes Collection: THE LETTER, THE SECRET and THE The Kathryn Hughes Collection: THE LETTER, THE SECRET and THE

The Letter is a historical romance that spans across three generations, and like most love stories it tells about love found and love lost. This story was more compelling, I thought, in that it goes into the details of the lives of those involved and gave good depictions of the types of bias and misguided judgements of the time, along with a clear sense of the struggles brought about by the first world war. How these individuals were directly and indirectly affected and how, as individuals, they coped. Hope rises from despair and new beginnings are forged in the most extraordinary and unexpected way. Kathryn Hughes delves deeply into the heart and soul of her characters, making them totally relatable...like friends you really care for. My addiction to this novel was total and uncompromising *****' The Letter by Kathryn Hughes is both beautifully written and incredibly poignant. You cannot fail to fall for this story. There is so much emotion written into the story that it carries you along and you just want to see a happy ending. So is there a happy ending. You will discover for yourself in a book that I am delighted to highly recommend. How did you feel about the development of the characters in the story? Who do you feel grew the most over the course of the novel? I have heard how good Kathryn Hughes books are and wanted to try one, I’m glad to say that I want to read her others.

I just finished reading The Memory Box and loved it. Then began a book called Moonlight Memories. It sounds like the same characters and same conversations. Is it the same story? I’m confused. I love her books.

Review: The Christmas Love Letters by Sue Moorcroft @SueMoorcroft @AvonBooksUK @rararesources #blogtour #newrelease #romance #Christmasread #RespectRomFic #TheChristmasLoveLetters Storytelling at its finest with characters that come alive and a plot that dances with intrigue. An absolutely first-class read that does not disappoint' Prima

The Letter by Kathryn Hughes | Hachette UK

The novel’s title, The Key, can be interpreted in several different ways. Which do you find the most significant? Kathryn Hughes’ new ebook The Letter offers readers a chance to absorb themselves in the lives of two women, born decades apart but whose lives share a number of parallels. The novel explores two historical strands, bringing together an abused housewife from the 1970s and a young girl from the early 1940s in a story of love, loss and unexpected consequences.

Review: The Christmas Love Letters by Sue Moorcroft @SueMoorcroft @AvonBooksUK @rararesources #blogtour #newrelease #romance #Christmasread #RespectRomFic #TheChristmasLoveLetters October 27, 2023 Knyga mane įtraukė nuo pačio pirmo puslapio! Skaitėsi super lengvai. Puslapiai skriete skriejo. An eloquent tale which flutters heart at unexpected moments. A simple five sentenced letter can change entire lives of people linked around it. A thought-provoking novel, The Letter, a story of two women, born decades apart, whose paths are destined to cross and how one woman's devastation leads to the other's salvation. My Top 30 Books of 2015, Hughes has been added to my favorite author list.
