I also really liked getting to meet Nyx in this. She definitely brought something different to the story and the world. I can't wait for their next adventure since Meghan's kid is now missing. I'm excited for the sequel but hate waiting at the same time. As a consequence of this experience, Iron Ravens Astartes are more flexible in tactics and combat doctrine than other Raven Guard Successors. They learned how to be more flexible in battle from the other Space Marines of different lineages they fought alongside during the crusade. I would definitely recommend this one to young readers, it is still a good story, but for people like me that mostly aged out of middle grade/teen type books I wouldn't go in expecting any more than just that or you will likely be disappointed. End of the last book Touchstone had disappeared, taking Kierran with it, so Ash and Meghan set out to find their son.

This author is brilliant at world-building. The foes/monsters Ash and company face are wildly creative and dangerous, and I have to wonder if they came from her own nightmares. Battle scenes are skillfully written, easy to picture, and highly perilous – I felt these characters could meet their death at any time. They walk a tightwire throughout most of the story. The darkness throughout this definitely kept everyone on their toes - including me. I just kept hoping things were going to get better and that Robin would fight the evil that was lurking within him. It helped that the people who knew him the best could easily see that something was different about him. I will admit no such thing,” the wine vendor snapped, and jabbed a withered finger in my direction. “Only that you are an incorrigible troublemaker and always up to no good. I don’t know why Lord Oberon hasn’t banished you permanently.”

It’s been a really long time since I read any books from the Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa, but since I recently read and loved the Shadow of the Fox trilogy, I really wanted to read IRON RAVEN. Ash had gone to the end of the world to be with Meghan. But I had gone to the End of the World for her too. Because I’d love her and I wanted her to be happy, even if it wasn’t with me." While they are still good to me and have that same general feel to them that I remember from the original books, I'm not the same reader I suppose. I think it's such a fine line to walk when trying to recreate nostalgic magic with your original readers and alao stay within the same age group perimeters of the original story, it's now attempting to pander to two very different audiences and it can be really tough to do. I think I came in hoping for Cobra Kai. The Iron Queen glared at us all. "All those things, I suppose," she said in a flat voice that hinted at retribution later on. Thank you to the publisher, Inkyard Press, for providing me with an ARC of The Iron Sword in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I must confess, I have never read any of the Iron Fey novels. In spite of that, I still had a ton of fun reading this and fell in love with the characters. Kagawa did an incredible job making this accessible to Readers new to this world. Me, whenever Julie Kagawa releases a new Iron Fey series*: OMG! I am so excited, I need this now!! 😍😍 Ich hoffe das der letzte Teil aus Megan POV geschrieben ist. Würde den Wechsel zu Ashs POV im zweiten Teil jedenfalls erklären.Overall, I think I have to make a few difficult decisions regarding my reading preferences, because they have changed over the last year. Wait, there’s an Iron faery here? In the market?” I was surprised. Though there was no law that barred the Iron fey from the goblin market, in the early days most of the traditional fey would not have tolerated their presence. Recently, however, it had been officially decreed that the goblin market was open to all fey, including the faeries of the Iron Realm. This was at the Iron Queen’s insistence, because the faeries of Summer and Winter welcomed change as well as an old cat welcomed a new puppy. But this was the first I’d heard of one setting up shop. The way I want to talk more about her, but I think it's much better if you see for yourself.😏 I'll just say that she's very very skilled assassin and Julie made many references to Sailor Moon that related to Nyx. Een pluizige cyperse kat slenterde naar voren, zwaaiend met een uitzonderlijk volle pluimstaart. Hij nam ons allemaal met een verveelde blik in zijn gouden ogen op.” This novel is a classic adventure story, complete with a dangerous quest, set in the land of the Fae.

Keirran, son of the Iron Queen, former prince of the Iron Court and King of the Forgotten, faced me calmly in the shadows cast by the Ferris wheel.I wished it didn’t. I remembered a time when he had smiled easily, when that bright blue gaze could charm a manticore, when he would listen, wide-eyed, as I told him stories about my greatest adventures in the Nevernever and beyond. I’d watched him grow up, watched as he developed the best, and worst, parts of both his parents—his mother’s kindness and empathy, his father’s courage and warrior spirit. And the mile-wide stubborn streak of them both. But I’d also seen that hint of darkness within that not even his parents had noticed, had watched it grow and fester until, eventually, it had swallowed him whole, and he’d turned into something no one recognized. A threat to the entire Nevernever. Marla snorted. “If the Summer Queen heard you say that, there’d be lightning storms for a month,” she muttered, then straightened in alarm. “Wait, you were looking at Ugfrig’s wares a moment ago,” she exclaimed. “Don’t tell me you were contemplating the mouse beads.” Many Iron Ravens were originally members of Roboute Guilliman's Unnumbered Sons and fought during the early years of the Indomitus Crusade.

Naja das stimmt nicht so ganz. Ich wurde tatsächlich dazu gedrängt, diese Serie zu lesen, weil es die Lieblingsserie einer Freundin war. Battle-brothers have a red stripe going down their helmet, but sergeants, lieutenants and other senior officers have a different distinguishing pattern of stripes on the helms instead. The writing is still good and very easy to follow. It’s clean and crisp, but can’t really make up for the shortcomings of the narrative. Yep, this was definitely an Iron faery. Just the amount of metal studs and loops in her long ears would be enough to give a traditional faery heart palpitations.

Did we miss something on diversity?

The small creature fled, gears and pistons squeaking as it scurried away and vanished around a booth. You don’t just get a selection of units in these battleforces, either. Each one comes with a set of detailed upgrade sprues and transfer sheets, so you can make your new Space Marines look like they’ve walked right out of your chosen Chapter’s forge. Flaming braziers, curved chainswords, and bionic enhancements are all here for the enterprising Warhammer hobbyist.
