Description

Smart features are provided courtesy of Samsung’s latest Tizen OS, and offer the most comprehensive streaming app support in town. The only notable absentee is the Freeview Play app that collates the catch up services of the UK’s main terrestrial broadcasters into a handy umbrella interface. All of those broadcasters’ catch up apps are provided individually, though. Though QD-OLED technology is in its first iteration, signs point to the S95B being a safe investment for long-term enjoyment. Should you buy it? Input lag measured 9.6ms in the fastest setting within the Game Bar 2.0 settings for a 4K/60 signal. This was halved when fed a 120 signal. The game bar gives you plenty of options and controls over what the TV is doing and how your picture is set up and what features are active, including changing the input lag settings. If you are using a gaming PC you can also set the ultra-wide aspect ratios to see everything available within those games which support ultra-wide aspect ratios of 21:9 and 32:9. Subscriptions required. Some apps may not be available at launch. 3rd party content providers may remove apps from the Smart TV platform or stop updating them at any time.

The S95B supports the usual Wi-Fi DLNA and Bluetooth wireless file streaming options, including Airplay 2, and is unusually proactive on this front by actually generating prompts to see if you want to connect to smart devices it has detected in its vicinity.

Unboxing Video

Both TVs offer an array of hardware- and software-related enhancements that ought to satisfy gamers and A/V enthusiasts alike. Let’s start with the gaming benefits. Updated to Test Bench 1.7 with an updated HDR Brightness test that better reflects real world usage. We've also split the console compatibility boxes into separate PS5 Compatibility and Xbox Series X|S Compatibility tests. You can see our full changelog here. We uploaded the latest brightness measurements and uniformity photos for the Accelerated Longevity Test. The Standard picture preset that we suspect most S95B users will feel most drawn to does a much better job of still providing plenty of impact from the screen’s brightness, contrast (including superb rendering of subtle shadow details) and colour volume advantages without typically tipping the picture into unbalanced, unnatural territory.

For any content that you submit, you grant SAMSUNG a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free, fully transferable right and license to use, copy, modify, delete in its entirety, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from and/or sell and/or distribute such content and/or incorporate such content into any form, medium or technology throughout the world without compensation to you. Nevertheless, the S95B wins by a decent margin; its contrast and color production puts it over the top. Samsung offers a one-year manufacturer’s warranty on the S95B. For those concerned about burn-in risk, consider that Dell offers a 5-year warranty on its 34-inch curved QD-OLED monitor (AW3423DW) which uses the exact same panel technology. In other words: Burn-in, while possible, is unlikely. With that said, at NO time was I ever distracted by motion performance while watching this TV. I was simply dazzled by how striking the S95B looks. It may not be perfect, but it is damn close. Sound quality You should turn off the noise reduction systems with 4K and even good quality HD content, too, to make the image look purer and less processed.

After that test session, conditions enabled our typical lag testing equipment to be used. At this point, however, I no longer had direct access to the S95B. Because I could not perform the test first-hand, I remotely observed the test performed by Samsung technicians. They reproduced our testing methodology completely, using an HDFury Diva with an Xbox Series X as a video source. The Diva measured an input lag of 1.4 milliseconds in Game mode, which is incredibly low, but realistic for a high-end TV with a suite of gaming features. Typically, the Bodnar lag tester displays much higher input lag than the Diva due to how the two devices function. Considering the disparity we see between the two results, I am comfortable accepting the 1.4ms lag measured by Samsung's technicians. For transparency, we will note both tests' results. Its remarkable colour, contrast and, by OLED standards, brightness capabilities together with another aggressive Samsung presentation make HDR games look dazzlingly colourful, punchy, sharp and ‘alive’. Beyond anything even LG’s mighty G2 can do, in fact.

In TV side of QD-OLED the only TVs with Samsung Display's QD-OLED panels that are sold in North America are the 55" and 65" Sony XR-55A95k and the Sony XR-65A95K.Not sure where your information comes from but it is highly incorrect, the S95B may not be strongly marketed as a QD-OLED by Samsung, but make no mistake it is only in 55" and 65" same as the A95K because it comes off the exact same panel line with the exact same limitations in sizes, it is QD-OLED, otherwise it's ability to cover over 90% of the BT2020 color space would be absolutely impossible with any WRGB OLED off of LG's now outdated line, they barely cover 76%, should do your research before spreading false info
