Description

Minimum Breaking Load (M.B.L.) is the minimum force which chain or components must withstand before failure. The mean stress at this load is 800n/mm2 (MPA). The minimum elongation before failure is 20%. a b "Trademark Assignment Abstract of Title". United States Patent and Trademark Office. 12 November 2018 . Retrieved 28 April 2019. Keep fingers, toes etc clear ensuring they do not become trapped when lifting, lowering or controlling loads.

We supply a wide range of high quality Stainless Steel Chain in any length, from a couple of metres to 100m reels.Position hooks of multi-leg slings facing outward from the load. Do not lift on the point of the hook and ensure that the chain is not twisted or knotted.

The Protector 13mm chain has the following link dimensions (nominal): 106 x 48mm outside; 80 x 22mm inside. It is constructed from 13mm diameter bar and has a fabric sleeve that is usually bronze in colour (adding about 4mm maximum to the width noted above). If you've got a round hole 52mm diameter, the 13mm chain should slide through OK. It will also fit through a rectangular hole, e.g. 52mm x 35mm, but that requires the links to settle against each other, and more closely as the slot gets narrower, down to the absolute minimum of around 52mm x 30mm high (where it would be quite fiddley to get it to go through). Also available as a Noose Chain - see below. Grade 80 (gr 8 / GR:80) advertised here (also know as Grade T), though we also supply Grade 100 chain slings (GR:100 / GR 10). A: This chain is perfect for mooring/marine applications and is very popular. 6mm, 8mm and 10mm diameters are perfect for anchors and boat moorings We also supply steel Chain in Galvanised steel and Zinc Plated in a variety of different sizes ranging from 1.5mm to the largest at 20mm this represents the diameter of the link. Plan the lift, establish the weight of the load and prepare the landing area ensuring that it will take the weight.

NEED HELP FINDING WHAT YOU NEED?

The Protector 16mm, 19mm and 22mm Titan and 25mm Titan are the highest-approved chains on the market, being the only ones that have Sold Secure Caravan Gold as well as Motorcycle/ATV/Motor Scooter/Bicycle/Commercial Vehicles & Plant/Car & Van, plus Sold Secure Motorcycle Diamond for the 22mm & 25mm TItan chains. This is a reflection of the high grade raw material we use and the heat treatment etc processes we have evolved over several years. You can't buy better! There are videos on the Internet showing inferior, invariably Far Eastern-produced, chains being cut in seconds with bolt croppers. You won't see our Protector 16mm or 19mm or 22mm or 25mm chains being bolt-cropped, guaranteed! Establish the weight of the load, ensure the lifting method is suitable and inspect the sling and attachments for obvious defects. Prepare the landing area making sure the floor is strong enough to take the load. Follow any specific instructions from the supplier.

Chain lengths overall are also nominal and subject to manufacturing tolerance as well as being potentially up to a link over- or under-length, relative to the descriptive length assigned. This is because a whole number of links will invariably not be an exact number of metres or half-metres overall, for example. Make a trial lift by raising the load a little to ensure it is balanced, stable and secure and if not lower it and adjust the slinging arrangement.A: It is sold per meter, so for example if you want a single 10 meter linear length in 1 piece simply add 10 into the quantity box of the diameter chain you require and we will supply 1 x 10 meter length Quad bikes/ATVs are usually easier to secure than 2-wheel motorbikes but, again, you have to be careful that you really are looping the chain through something structural and not removable. E.g. the rear axle looks appealing but it's no good if the thief can slip off the chain simply by removing a wheel! Suspension wishbones etc are attached with a couple of bolts that can be easily removed. Most quads do have frames with structural members that are suitable but you have to look for them, and ideally loop the chain through several of them. Multi-leg slings exert a gripping force on the load which increases as the angle between the legs increases and this must be taken into account. RiDE Magazine Best Buy and Recommended awards for our Protector 19mm and Protector 16mm chains, respectively. More details below. Video: Help on choosing the right chain: Protector Range Overview

Further information is given in: ** HSE Guidance Note PM 39 - Hydrogen Embrittlement of Grade T Chain .* The Code of Practice for the Safe Use of Lifting Equipment, published by: LEEA GENERAL PURPOSE SLINGING PRACTICE These high grade Protector 16mm, 19mm, 22mm Titan and 25mm Titan chains really are impossible to bolt-crop by hand. The thieves use Irwin Record 42" bolt croppers as their tool of choice. They are expensive, but of course they don't always buy them... The Protector 16mm and 19mm and 22mm and 25mm chains are all impossible to crop even with this powerful tool. Indeed, if you keep trying to crop one of these chains, it is likely to be the jaws of the bolt croppers that break! If you are considering a chain from another manufacturer, ask if they will guarantee it as impossible to crop with Irwin Record 42" bolt croppers. Fit slings carefully, protect them from sharp edges and position hooks to face outward from the load.

The Protector 19mm chain has the following link dimensions (nominal): 138 x 63mm outside; 100 x 25mm inside, throughout its length (an elongated end link is not required). It is constructed from 19mm diameter bar. The smallest rectangular hole it will fit through is about 65 x 44mm, but that would be a tight fit and a little more space will make it easier to feed through. All but the end links are surrounded with a protective fabric sleeve (again, to protect your bike/other valuables; not to protect the chain!). The sleeve is usually a bronze colour (adding about 4mm maximum to the width noted above). In the case of multi-leg slings the angle between the legs should not be less than 30° or exceed the maximum marked. Single Leg Chains, 2 Leg Chains, 3 Leg and 4 Leg Chain slings at any length to suit your application with a shortening clutch fitted for leg length adjustment
