Description

Unlike most cooling units this model can be moved alone if you live by yourself, is easy to reposition thanks to its castor wheels, and is a great slimline option to stow away in the car and take to the caravan or a holiday let to keep cool in the summer heat. As mentioned, this unit is also very lightweight compared to most portable air con units we've tested. The flipside of that is that the build quality does feels slightly flimsier than some alternative units I've tested. With rated maximum noise levels of 65dB in high mode and 53dB in low fan mode, the MC 7000 is noticeably louder than your average tower fan (we measured the noise levels at 62dB and 56dB respectively). There’s also a slight buzzing that accompanies the unit while it cools, too, so it isn’t the ideal choice to run overnight in a bedroom. The MeacoCool MC 7000, for instance, delivers full air-conditioning capabilities for less than the cost of a Dyson desk fan like the Pure Cool Me. It isn’t the quietest thing in the world but it’s a lot more effective at keeping you cool than a simple air blower. It's not the most powerful option out there in terms of BTU, but Meaco offers plenty of alternative models, ranging from this the smallest 7000BTU through to a 14000BTU model.

Air conditioner units work best when the hot air they are extracting is expelled outside the building. The MeacoCool comes with two types of window kits: the standard window kit and the flexible window kit. The standard window kit is suitable for sash windows, whereas the flexible window kit is suitable for all types of windows. The use of a window kit prevents warm air from outside entering the room, making the cooling more efficient.Portable Air Conditioners require you to vent the exhaust through an open window using the supplied hose. All air cons produce heat that needs to be removed from the room you want to cool. We supply a range of window kits and extension hoses to make venting the excess heat even easier. No-one wants a loud, heavy air conditioning unit in their home. For rooms that get particularly hot, such as conservatories, home gyms, loft conversions and bedrooms, or for office spaces that need to be comfortable to work in, a MeacoCool 9000 is the perfect fit. According to the manual, the air filters must be cleaned once every two weeks because otherwise dust will collect on them and restrict the airflow which could affect the efficiency of the unit. Next, I put the MeacoCool MC Series 7000BTU Portable Air Conditioner through its paces on all of its different modes and settings to test its portability, cooling powers, noise levels, and ease of use. Ease of use

Noise-wise, we found the Meaco Portable Air Conditioner slightly louder than the more powerful (and more expensive) AEG Comfort 6000 Portable Air Conditioner and Russell Hobbs RHPAC11001 Portable Air Conditioner, but only marginally so, and it could well be worth putting up with a little more volume in return for the cheaper investment. The new MeacoCool range is smaller, lighter and more compact in size making it easier to fit within a room and be comfortably moved around. This is the ideal choice for large conservatory or orangery areas, for home gyms and for bedroom suites. It’s also perfect for office spaces that don’t have enough ventilation or suffer from the heat during the summer.In low fan speed the sound pressure level of 50dB(A) makes this a easier unit to live with. To get the best out of your air conditioner we recommend pre-cooling rooms, for example a bedroom, before you need to use them so that the room is nice and cool when you need to use it. This makes it easier to get a good night’s sleep. You can do this more easily using the air conditioner's On Timer. In Cool mode, it hovered at around 667W with the fan speed set to low and rose to around 672W with the fan at high speed. That’s with the temperature set to its coldest level of 16℃, so over time that should fall to a lower level. This increased by approximately five decibels when the fan speed was increased to High speed. Energy use There are four modes – cool, fan, dry and sleep. The sleep mode reduces the speed of the fan and also the noise the unit makes – making it easier for you to cool your room and sleep soundly, however warm the night is. Installing the window kit for the first time takes a little time and effort, but once this is done it can be kept in situ for the whole summer.

Larger spaces need effective air conditioning and that’s what you get with the MeacoCool 10000. Specifically designed to cool bigger areas, this unit is fully portable, and has an Energy Rating of A, making it easy on your household or office bills.

How we tested

That said, you don't have to have the unit running whilst you're in the room. At night time you can set the air conditioner to run before going to bed and then turn it off once the room is cooled. This is made easier thanks to the unit's built-in timer function. Portability Introducing the brand new range of MeacoCool portable air conditioners perfect for home and office use providing personal comfort during the summer months. verifyErrors }}{{ message }}{{ /verifyErrors }}{{

We know you’re looking for an air conditioning unit that cools reliably without making your room freezing and resulting in a too-cold-too-hot scenario that you can’t control. That’s why we’ve added some great features to our air conditioning series. New range of Haier TIDE wall mounted air conditioning unit with inbuilt wi-fi and silver coil fresh technology.Take a look at the full range here .A third reviewer commented on the ease of assembly and effectiveness of the cooling and value: ‘Easy instructions - window and door kit included - easy to put together - decently quiet to run on full blast (no louder than the large fan we have running). No complaints at all - even after 2 hours running you can feel the difference in the next rooms as well. Great unit for the price.’ When in Cool Mode on High setting, and with the temperature set as 16, it brought the temperature down by approximately two degree Celsius in a super speedy ten minutes. (This was with the thermometer positioned at the side of the room close to the unit). A really immediate and noticeable impact. The fact that one of the drainage hose outlets was positioned midway down the rear of the unit made it much easier to drain than alternative models I've tested in which the outlet is much lower down. I put the Dry Mode to use on a very muggy rainy day and noticed an almost immediate improvement in the moisture levels in the room. I would recommend it to anyone looking to cool down a small bedroom, home office, nursery, or similar over the summer. It doesn’t take up too much space to store either and is very easy to set up and use. Overall its lightweight build and compact size make it a great option for smaller homes, and for anyone who lives alone and might struggle to move a larger unit by themselves.
