Description

Measurements that you are about to see were performed using the Klippel Near-field Scanner (NFS). This is a robotic measurement system that analyzes the speaker all around and is able (using advanced mathematics and dual scan) to subtract room reflections (so where I measure it doesn't matter). It also measures the speaker at close distance ("near-field") which sharply reduces the impact of room noise. Both of these factors enable testing in ordinary rooms yet results that can be more accurate than an anechoic chamber. In a nutshell, the measurements show the actual sound coming out of the speaker independent of the room. I performed over 1000 measurement which resulted in error rate of less than 1% throughout most of the range. Excellent acoustic characteristics, small dimensions and an outstanding cost/performance ratio make this studio monitor perfectly suited for use in small control rooms in music, video and broadcast production. Powered with a 50 W Class D amplifier for the woofer and a 20 W Class D amplifier for the U-ART tweeter, the T5V produces SPLs of up to 106 dB per pair. Excellent acoustic characteristics, small dimensions and an outstanding cost/performance ratio make this studio monitor perfectly suited for use in small control rooms in music, video and broadcast production.

Simply solid. You tap on it anywhere once and you know Adam was serious about this, as they always are.

Tech Specs

Crucially, though, sound quality is top-notch, regardless of what calibre of device you connect them to. These are superb-sounding speakers that rival options at several times the asking price. The Adam Audio T5V Studio Monitor is designed to produce accurate sound, allowing you to hear frequencies clearly. This allows you to create clean, punchy, and professional mixdowns and productions. The T5V Studio Monitor provides you with fine tune controls that allow you to tailor the frequency response to perfectly suit the room or position they are in. The monitor features two 3-way switches that boost or cut the low and high frequencies by +/-5dB. They also provide a 'flat' setting. The switches allow the monitor to compensate for frequencies that may stand out too much when your monitor is positioned on shelves, a table top, a console bridge, or at varying distances between walls. This ensures that you are hearing accurate audio, not muffled by unwanted and amplified frequencies.

Right off the bat, one notices their size. They're bigger than you'd expect, so if you're tight on desktop space like I am, you might have to play a game of musical chairs with your gear. The build quality is robust, with a design that commands presence. Thefrequency response of the Adam T5v extends all the way between 45Hz and 25kHz for an unrivallednearfield response, ideal for mid-level mixing and music creation before the mastering stage. As ever, the proof is in the listening, and the T5V sounded great in every room I tried them in. The T5V sounded consistently good in my acoustically treated office, in an echoey, wooden-floored living room, and they were quite happy shoved on a desk, bookshelf or on speaker stands, too – something you can’t always take for granted with more traditionally designed hi-fi speakers. Please note that this extended warranty is currently only available on products sold within the UK, EU or EEA, and is subject to the terms and conditions as detailed on the extended warranty certificate provided.

Specifications

It allows you to compare the performances of different speakers before even laying your ears hands on them. Because, other parameters such as the age/materials of the building, furniture/windows in place also have an impact on room acoustics. The T5V monitor delivers extremely high performance, producing 106dB SPL per pair. This is provided by the integrated new Class D amplifiers delivering 20W power to the tweeter, and 50W power to the woofer. Delivering excellent transient response and a high dynamic range, the studio monitor provides you with accurate audio. The low and high end is incredible but these absolutely nail the mid range. String instruments sound so good, it's hard to put in words. The highs are just silky. Their frequency response is stellar for the money and the clarity they provide is just unheard for this price range.

One reason why the T5V sounds so good is that the design uses a waveguide. This small scooped-out region around the tweeter helps to integrate the treble frequencies with that of the woofer below and, as a result, the sound reflected off walls and ceilings sounds very similar to what comes directly out of the speaker. This means that the character of the sound – the balance between bass, mid-range and treble frequencies – remains as consistent and balanced as possible at the listening position. The T5V’s cabinet houses a 5in woofer alongside Adam Audio’s unusual-looking U-ART 1.9in ribbon tweeter, and there are dedicated internal Class-D amplifiers for each driver, with 20W driving the tweeter and 50W for the woofer. Each speaker is powered by a single IEC kettle lead. We combined Spinorama data with room acoustics and came up with Soundton. A very simple, 2D online tool that allows you to: This is why Spinorama was apparently groundbreaking news for audio industry. Hence in the mid-late 2010's, most brands and magazines began publishing Spinorama measurements, despite the challenges of making such measurements. My Emes Waldorf monitors were up for replacement. These were over twice the price when new, so I didn't expect a fair comparison but hoped the Adams would be acceptable. Much to my surprise though, these Adams had deeper lows and higher highs than the Emes did! Moreover, they provide such a wide frequency range without becoming boomy or shouty. This gentle behaviour means the mid-range isn't pushed away like often happens with cheaper speakers.Weighing in at only 5.7kg, the Adam T5Vs are equally well suited on the move. If you frequent multiple studio locations or travel aboard, there's no reason why you can't use these as part of a mobile production setup without compromising clarity and quality. Excellent acoustic characteristics, small dimensions and an outstanding cost/performance ratio make this studio monitor perfectly suited for use in small control rooms in music, video and broadcast production too. Sub Ready

For customers in outlying areas of the country, the price of the Extended Warranty may be marginally higher, due to the potential for higher collection and redelivery transport costs. There is a great line in one of my favorite movies, Good Will Hunting: "I don't know that she is perfect... the key is whether you are perfect for each other." The Adam T5V is not perfect but manages the compromises in the this very low price range incredibly well. The ability produce lots of bass and loudly so puts it a clear step ahead of the competition. Yes, you pay a bit more for that but it is well worth it.A small gain knob smoothly adjusts the volume for each speaker, and two three-way switches allow you to choose from -2db, 0db and +2db settings for the low frequency and high frequency shelf EQ circuits.
