problem was the threads were poorly cut into the plastic of the pump so it has always been really difficult to screw the pump on the bottle without crossing the threads, even being really careful and twisting the pump the 'wrong' way until I hear the bottle's threads drop in and then gently tightening it. I know the BRS-8 has been done to death but I thought I'd give mine a wee sending off review before I decommission it. Gear talk: Pad-Pal, the world’s smallest and lightest electric pad inflator is getting smaller and lighter! The reports all seem to have a few things in common: long burn times combined with heavy loads of water or food. I haven’t experienced this and I don’t see it happening anytime soon – I only really boil a cup or two of water at most in a 550ml pot – I also don’t blast the thing on high – I suspect this might be part of the problem, this thing really cranks out the heat.

It has a replaceable O-ring inside the canister end of the stove, the wire flame adjuster has three full rotations to dial in the output, and the three pot supports fold up and then down along the sides of the stove for transport. Nothing about the stove feels cheap, in fact most ultralight backpackers would expect to pay a lot more for a piece of equipment that is this lightweight. If the item comes direct from a manufacturer, it may be delivered in non-retail packaging, such as a plain or unprinted box or plastic bag. I did fill an evernew 900ml pot to the 25oz mark took the stove outside and ran it for 30 minutes this afternoon. I would not hesitate in packing the Soto Windmaster for better performance and fuel efficiency especially with colder and windier conditions.

When we tested the BRS-3000T side-by-side with its two main competitors, the MSR Pocket Rocket and the Soto Amicus, the BRS-3000T didn’t perform as well because there was very little protection from the wind. Scotland when I went to use the stove after it had been in storage and fuel begun flowing out of the pump mechanism (in the part which has the adjustment knob). The stove itself is advertised as being made of titanium, but other metals are included in the construction, mostly brass and steel.

I didn’t use my jetboil Sol Ti as I was concerned about running full blast with it as I am not sure it was designed to be used with a stove with that high of BTU output. After I used it once I now use it for all my backpacking trips: so small and lightweight I cannot feel it and yet does the job to my satisfaction. However that is a hack not possible with the equally as small BRS 3000-T due to differences in design and construction. It might be taken on day hikes, or where the weather forecast is mild and stronger breezes or winds are not expected, or even carried as a back-up stove. The Pathfinder Ti is an ultralight titanium camp stove that packs down small and weighs less than anything we’ve used before. We found the pot supports to be surprisingly sturdy with small to medium cookware but have heard mentions of them deforming under heat and load. We didn’t experience it in our testing, but we have heard reports of the pot supports bending under a lot of pressure when the legs have become overheated. The low cost of the BRS-3000T removes the financial barriers of owning a backpacking stove and its ease of use makes it straightforward to get burning, even if you’re completely new to cooking in the backcountry.

The BRS 3000T is simple with no features and works except for the issue when screwing it on to the fuel canister. For the majority of hikers this is the type of stove carried where small size and weight win over gas efficiency and features. The strength drops faster than steels as temperature increases, but I don’t know how weak it gets at red hot temps. Our reviewers did not experience this while testing the stove, but complaints of this kind seem too widespread to discount. I almost always get a question or two when I fish it out of my pack and fire it up in front of friends or passersby (I do a lot of adventure picnicking in the parks near me), and I’m sure you have some of the same questions. You could also build confidence by taking out your planned set up on short overnight or even day trips.

However, like an Olympic gymnast standing next to a regular-sized person, the BRS-3000T makes the other stoves look big. With the wider pots the trick is to orient the pot so the handle is against one of the legs then it will be stable. I almost always use them with Jetboil pots (both aluminum and titanium Sols, and a MiniMo), all with one of the pot riser ‘thingies’ that I make.I own and use a few different canister stoves: Primus ClassicTrail, Primus Express, even no name China made cheap one, but none of them can beat the combined features of this BRS-3000T "titanium" stove (the word "titanium" here is in the quotes because this is how the manufacturer describes the fact that they use titanium alloy among other materials in the stove construction). I was asked some months ago if there is a significant difference between the Soto Windmaster and the BRS 3000T stoves with respect to fuel consumption. Arguably one of the smallest and most lightweight canister stoves on the market, the BRS-3000T takes portable to a whole new level. Remember to be careful shielding your fuel canister stove in the wind so you don't trap all the heat on the fuel canister. You want to release each pot support so they’re standing straight up before collapsing them below the burner.
