In terms of my style preferences, I prioritize volume over definition though definition matters to me as well. I am not someone who is too fixated on frizz. My main goals with mousse are hard hold, big volume, at least decent definition, and long-lasting results. Oh, and I prefer curly girl approved products but it’s not an absolute must. Herbal Essence Totally Twisted Curl Boosting Mousse has long been the best like-for-like replacement for the Pantene Defined Curls Mousse. It’s not available everywhere though, I think mostly/just in the USA and Canada. The Good Housekeeping Institute Beauty Lab tests hair mousses both on consumer testers and in the Lab using technical protocols. Testers evaluate the mousses at home for their ease of use and performance, and in the Lab, scientists test them on human hair samples, with half a head styled with no product and the other half with the hair mousse to gauge its effects. I absolutely love the creamy texture, which makes this mousse melt delicately onto my hair without any greasiness. It does feel like whipped cream! Price– Pantene Defined Curls Mousse was incredibly affordable! Ideally I want to find a replacement that is around the same price point.

However, Colins argues that in the case of formaldehyde-releasing preservatives, formaldehyde is released slowly and the skin has probably not evolved to deal with that. The lingeringformaldehyde might be toxic tothe Langerhans Cells that are important for the skin's defense system. Another potential issue is that formaldehyde-releasers might also release other things while reacting with amino acids in the skin that is probably the explanation why some people are not allergic to formaldehyde but are allergic to formaldehyde-releasing preservatives. These are all theories, far from proven facts, but we feel that there are some justified reasons whyformaldehyde-releasing preservatives andDmdm Hydantoin count as controversial. For medium curls (3b-3c), a more lightweight, medium-hold mousse is great for defining and separating your curls. This will reduce frizz sans the "crunch," while allowing your natural curl pattern to move freely. Low porosity roots, average porosity upper strands, and high porosity lower strands. My hair does not support itself well, I need a good cast and strong hold to maintain definition for multiple days. My hair is not very prone to getting “stringy”.For years, I used the Pantene Perfect Curls Shampoo and Conditioner and the Pantene Defined Curls Mousse (No. 5) my curls always looked consistently amazing! It wasn’t until Pantene discontinued the Perfect Curls Shampoo and Conditioner that I had to put more thought into what hair care products I used. Mousse is the holy grail for curls. Forget the drying and crunchy formulas of yesteryear, a well-formulated mousse will give you the smooth, soft, defined, and full curls of your dreams. If you haven’t tried mousse to enhance your curls, you don’t know what you’re missing. Read on to find out how to get your best curls with a little help from your new favorite product. Why curls love hair mousse Even refreshing 2 days in a row with more mousse, my hair doesn’t feel “producty”. Prior to trying this mousse I had always strived for a mousse that would last without needing to refresh. This is one where I don’t mind using it to refresh. This mousse does have a strong scent (lemon) that I don’t care for but it fades after my hair dries. Results– are my results the same as they are when I use Pantene Defined Curls Mousse? Are they as defining and long-lasting? Does it give the same hold? Some images in this post are from Pantene Defined Curls Mousse, other images are from the new mousse I’ve discovered that is the best like-for-like replacement. Can you tell the difference?

Hair mousse may be most well-known for its volumizing benefits, but it's also a star curl styler. Mousses for curly hair increase fullness by creating space between strands with their aerated foam formulas, enhance the shape of spirals with plumping ingredients like polymers, and can provide conditioning benefits via boosters like silicones and botanical oils. And experts agree that mousse is one of the best products for naturally curly hair, to enhance the bounce and shape of fine or thin curls, or to help hold curls in straight hair. Herbal Essences Totally Twisted. This is the mousse I see recommended to newbies most often. It has a shaving-cream like consistency, and I didn’t notice any scent at all. It dried a bit faster than some other mousses that I’ve tried. It only gave me a light cast, and did not have good frizz control, I had moderate frizz from day 1.aussie sprunch mousse. I was excited to try this because it claimed to be a mousse and leave-in conditioner in one. I’ve struggled to find any leave in conditioners that don’t weigh me down, so I thought having a moisturizing mousse might be a great solution. This mousse is thin and light but not airy/spongy in texture making it somewhat unique texture wise. I’ve already tried quite a few and have my thoughts. If you think it would be helpful, then I’ll happily write a post. But let me know x I’ve been using the Pantene Defined Curls No. 5 Mousse for almost 24 years! When people ask me if I could only use one styling product for the rest of my life, what would it be? Overall this is my favorite mousse because it gives me big volume, good definition, and it lets me hair look good the longest.
