But 100% this is a standalone, it's just fans of the author will recognise this setting, and The Corner House on Winter Street is a wonderful focal point for this story. As is the whole Christmas decoration contest pitting Winter Street against other streets in Cambridgeshire. That coupled with a sprinkle of festive vibes, a Christmas light street competition and a found family Christmas, it’s perfect for that Xmas literary hit in December. As with Christmas Wishes it’s the younger generations who almost steal the show, seeing Wilf bloom and grow in confidence after listening to Sky’s stories and starting to integrate with the other children in the village is one of the highlights of the book and it gives that warmth to you. There are of course other heart warming moments in this book but I’m not going to spoil it for you so would just recommend reading it yourself.

I'm not, however, through with the fashion dichotomy that's unfolding in my exploration of winter 2023/2024’s trends. In a season which, by all accounts, is being applauded for accurately representing women and their needs, why is the industry ignoring a significant number of us in the process? Research carried out by Vogue Business found that, of 9137 looks across 219 shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris, just 0.6% were plus-size (UK 16+), and 3.8% were mid-size (UK 10 to 14). This means 95.6% of looks presented for winter 2023 were in sizes UK 4 to 8. Why is this the case? Some are blaming the trends themselves—much of the '90s and '00s looks that are currently resonating were first born in a thin cultural peak, and life as we know it is imitating that once more. I say let's speak the truth: The luxury fashion industry still has a problem with non-straight bodies, and any progress it has made to be more inclusive has regressed. In recent years, the body-positivity movement has continued to gain momentum and is an agenda-setting topic on social media, so why is it that so many brands are unwilling to embrace it? For this, I don't have the answer, but I can direct your attention to the brands that were body-positivity allies this season and whose shows I saw myself represented in—Karoline Vitto, Sinéad O'Dwyer, Ester Manas, Christian Siriano, Collina Strada and Di Petsa. So, if you like a Christmas read with a strong storyline but still full of everything festive and fun, put on your Christmas pj’s and settle in for a cosy feel good festive read. Winter Street centers around The Quinn family. Kelley Quinn is the father. He owns a B&B with his current wife Mitzi. He's worried about the financial future of the Winter Street Inn but this concern takes second place when he finds his wife in a room with George, the Santa Claus who performs during the yearly Christmas party at the Inn. Before she leaves, Mitzi confesses that her affair with George has been ongoing for twelve years every single Christmas holiday.Sheffield City Council Health Committee minutes, 1849 - 1973: these include summaries of Medical Officer of Health monthly reports to 1967, with statistics of infectious and notifiable diseases (CA112/1-37) The tale that unfolds in Winter Street is not your typical holiday story, but takes us into the lives of this close-knit family as Hilderbrand shares a not so perfect Christmas. Delivered from each of the Quinn’s perspective we follow each of the stories as we move through the holiday, discover truths, and band together. Quirky, heart-felt, and genuine I enjoyed learning about this family. Daz has his own stuff going on. His best friend has gone to prison, leaving behind his wife and young son. Daz plays a big part in both their lives, which is possibly misconstrued by some.

Christmas, when it arrived, was unconventional but at the same time with a strong traditional vibe to it, and the snow just made it extra Christmassy. This seasonal romp from Sue Moorcroft provides all the festive feels, but the story is so much more than just a Christmas tale.apos;Record of Municipal Affairs in Sheffield 1843 to 1893& apos;, by JM Furness, 1893 (Sheffield Archives LOCAL FUR)
